hey everyone
I recently had a bridged MTX amp go on me, and I've since ordered an infinity 311A Monoblock amp to replace it.
This amp will be powering a 12" MTX Sub. I am hoping it's possible to run this sub at 2 ohms? But I'm not an expert on wiring. Could someone set me straight on this?

the amp should be able to hadle a two ohm load. If the sub is dual voice coil 4 ohms then you can wire the in parallel to get 2 ohms...
ummm yeah... what coils does the sub have? you left out a crap ton of info...

I did some reading and googling and you guys confirmed my research about needing a dual voice coil sub. I have an MTX 12" 8500. I'm pretty sure it's not dual voice coil. I guess my next question is would it be worth my while to pick up a new sub w/dual voice coils to take advantage of the new amp?

if the sub has two 4ohm voice coils then you can run it at 2ohms... but if its just a single then all you're gonna get is 4ohms.. buying a DVC sub would be up to you, but you can make more power at lower impedance.
on the magnet does it say 8512-04 or 8512-44
