yea its an Iraggi, 180/120a idle i think. heres hoping that it fits

. it looks like it will and it does say Valeo on it so we'll see this weekend when i put it on. i orignally wanted an Excessive ampreage but they havent made one yet. and thanks a lot for the link. i wanted circle but teh guy that was gonna hook me with teh pod isnt parting his car out anymore so maybe ill fabricate something for teh middle of teh center console or something....
Good News!!! The Iraggi Alt. fits like a charm and works even better. You can tell the electrical system breathes easier now lol. Phase 1 = Done pic of the alt in the car coming soon...although it looks stock...lates!
Sweet.. Did you have to send your alt to him? Can you say how much it ran you? Under $350?

"If life throws you a curve, pop the clutch and drift it!"
nah i didnt, they buy it (housing ect) direct from either GM or Valeo (i think Valeo) i got it in a group buy from caraudio.com's forums 25% off 180/120a idle for like $275-ish. all i cared about was the 120a idle. which like 15a higher than what our stock ones do at full tilt.

either way im happy. lates!
i'm gonna have to get me one of those now...

lol
naw i didnt buy it from Orion. but the repair is being paid for by my aynonomus sponser.

im just praying that the subs are not messed up.
test em with a meter and see what the ohm reading you get. if it's zero...then your screwed, lol

i think they tested them at teh shop. i believe they said it was at 1.8 ohms. they tested the speaker wire not the wires to to the inputs on teh actual speaker. do i just test teh speaker wires or do take out the subs and test the inputs? sorry for teh mis-spellings im typing kinda fast lates and thanks...
you can test it through the wires...the number will just be a little different.
as long as it's not 0...or something crazy like 50, then they should be good.

good news! i used my multi-meter (about 20 years old but it works) and the speaker wire read in between .8-.6 ohms. which would explain why the amp blew! this also shows that the subs are in working condition! yay! today is a good day...
all wire has resistance.

dont forget.

hmm but i didnt test just the wire. and would wire have that low of an impendance?
i'm confused
"the speaker wire read in between .8-.6 ohms. which would explain why the amp blew!"
what exactly did you do? and what ohm are your subs wired up as?

i measured the speaker wires as they were still connected to the subs. i thought i wired them to 1ohm, if i measured correctly the .8 ohm would mess up the amp because it is not modded to handle less tahn 1 ohm...
Tell that to my 2500d then bro. I run mine at .5 ohm all day and it takes it just fine. i think it likes it even. i think your problem is elsewhere.
yea ima take out teh subs on mon and test them. also nate: is your 2500D modded or not?
you gotta realize that during play..your amp isn't not seeing 1 ohm constantly. impendance rise causes it to be higher. so it's not constant.

is that because of teh box or is it just the nature of electricity? what makes it do this?
I don't believe Nate's 2500 is modded. Doesn't matter either way, like wysiwyg said, your amp isn't going to see .5.
It's because of how the box makes the subs act.
BTW: I've run them at .5, and know quite a few people that have as well and nobody has had any problems. If anything I would bet you just let the voltage get too low. Hope you get it figured out and are back to bumping in no time.

The system has arrived.
Oh, I forgot to say. I know someone that at one point was running them with a .175 load. Yes, you read that right.

the more and more i think about it, i come to the conclusion that i let the voltage go too low. i took the subs out and tested them and they read fine (inbetween 3.5-4.0ohms) and im pretty sure that they were wired correctly. so ill wait and double check with orion to see if they found out the exact cause. at lunch ill wire up the subs to 4 ohms and throw on my mtx amp thatll give em like 200watts. at least ill have a little bump
