I have a '96 Sunfire and a Pioneer DEH-P4400 deck. Now, I need to know where I can find out which wire is my remote turn on so I can hook my amp up to it. It seems to me its the orange wire, because that is the only loose wire. The little tag on it says ILL. Any help is appreciated.

No orange is for your illumination so it dims when you turn your lights on. Pioneer should be a blue wire with a white stripe and usually says acc.
Yup what he said. Blue wire with most likely a stipe will say acc or amp turn on lead or something similar. The power antenna wire is blue too, so just test it out.
Well, i have a light blue cord with a white stripe, but it has a connector on the end and says system remote control, which i assume is for my remote. I have a red wire that is already connected to the red wire in my harness. IT says ACC on it. So is it the red wire?

Don't use the ACC wire. You should use that blue wire that says system remote on it. The ACC is what tells your HU to turn on, remote wire tells your amp to turn on. Either way, every deck I've owned the remote wire is always blue and on my pioneer it was tagged as such.
^^ Either that, or your power antenna wire. Power antenna needs a remote on/off signal just ass your amp does, same difference.
I didnt do that on mine, I jsut took 12v hot and have a switch.

^^ Good point. My buddy did it and it works... hmmm.... But hes got a Jenson deck so the things probly wired wrong anyways.
What I did with the 12v works just fine for me... but like, is it ok? I mean it works and stuff, but is the remote able (or supposed to) to receive 12v?

as long as you don't forget to turn the switch on and off EVERY time you get in or out of the car...then sure, if it works for you.

blue is for power antenna usually on some decks amp will only turn on if your listening to the radio. blue/white is usually remote for an amp.
wicked
I only use the switch for my sub amp, which is no problem to turn and and off manually cuz its rarely used.
Im asking if 12v is ok for it tho... obviously it is.
