I have a 1995 Cav with the stock 2.2L and the 3 speed auto trans, what exactly would I need to swap to the 3400? I've read up in the v6 swap page and it looks like I can use my transmission, please correct me if I'm wrong. and should I use the computer and harnesses from the vehicle the motor is pulled out of? If

a 3400 will bolt to ur trans no prob. u will need to a pcm froma v6 powered car but im not sure if there is a platform that ran a 3 speed and v6 but u could always run a grand am trans. pm me if ur interested i have coolant hoses,ps hoses and most of a manual harness i made. its rough but i drove the car for like 2500 miles with it. pm me if ur interested.

^^^^^ i with stupid hahahaha JK he that engine should be goin in this weekend will let you know the fitment of your 3400 mounts

i keep hearing this term flying around.... "Piggyback", can anyone explane this term a lil bit? Is it a splice with the factory 2.2l wire harness? I know basic wiring, I had to rewire the headlight wire harness for my 2001 sunfire front clip. And I've done alot of custom lighting and sound systems. and also? would there need to be any fabrication on the transmission mount?

It's about time. LOL. For all the mounts I've sold, I don't think anyone has installed using the new 3400 style yet. I've been waiting for some feedback from people, and hopefully pics.
We have failed you

. I'm surprised nobody has installed them yet. I know why I haven't, but I doubt everyone of us has an excuse. They look great on my desk though, collecting dust with my TG lsd and jbo stickers

You can use a 94-98 Grand Am 3100 PCM, but you will not get all of your gauges to run off of it (no tach, no coolant temp, most warning lights will not work). You can piggyback your 2.2 PCM just to run the gauges, or you can go aftermarket.
Maybe not, he has a 95 so the computer setup is different. It's likely that he could even just use the PCM from a 94 Cavalier that has a 3.1 and automatic. The old 3.1 2nd gen's have a non-electronic transmission so he'd be good to go. I'm not sure if the 94 PCM can be chipped, but maybe the 93 can. A 3.1 computer will run a 3400 but you'll be a bit down on power, and have a not as flat power curve. Ideally he'll want something that he can run a swap chip in that guys sell over on 60degreev6 for the 2nd gens.
I don't know how much trouble it'll be to run 93/94 (j-body PH2) electronics in a 95. I know the 90/91 stuff doesn't quite work out to great.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick

how much simpler would it be to replace my 2.2L with the 2.4L DOHC? I've seen a few at the yard, might just pick one up and rebuild it. I know that the mounts are the same as mine. I know that my 3 speed auto wont work with the 2.4L, but what problems would I run into with wiring and other specifications? Im just looking for a better motor then the 2.2L, I would go V6 but from what I'm reading it sounds like there is alot of fabrication and what not. would the 2.4L need as much fabrication and to piggyback multiple ECMs as the V6's? Im sure that I'll prolly pull the 2.4L out of a Grand Am prolly 98-01?
