would a stock cobalt ss supercharger from any year fit on 2.2 ohv 2200?

Totally different engine man. It won't.

Look at your engine and get back to us. TB is on the back.

No, dumb question do your research they dont make a supercharger for the ohv you would have to get a turbo kit or custom make your own turbo kit
Erik Packard

Actually RSM racing used to have a supercharger for the 2.2s and the 2200s. It was a vortech kit, almost 5k for it. Good hp gain, around 60-85 horse from what they claimed depending on mods.

anything is possible with the right modifications but since most people on here have no clue what a wrech is thats why they say you can't
JBO since July 30, 2001

I wouldnt say its something you can do with a wrench. It would require a custom manifold if you could get it to fit on the intake side of the engine. Thats the biggest obstacle.

okay so wtf is wrench, isnt that something you can pick up at a smoke shop?

no the biggest obstacle is you not knowing how the vortech supercharger setup goes.

Wasnt talking about the Vortech now was I? Vortech is centrifugal and no a roots style. It forces air in through the stock manifold.
Im talking about the M62. Youd have to remote it and at that point you might as well just put a turbo on it.
But thanks for jumping my @!#$ out of context.

well if your that lazy as to have us do all the work for you instead of researching you might as well pay one of us to build your engine
Erik Packard

just cause im asking a forum dont mean im being lazy.
and im not askin anyone to do research for me..
i just thought that someone somewhere might have tried somethin like this and figured it was worth while. or not...
its just another means or research.. so how about not goin on a forum and just bein a dick about a simple yes no question.

You are getting @!#$ for it because we've seen this topic many times and you probably would have found your answer very simply & quickly if searched. The topic has been brought up numerous times. Although the forum is almost always helpful, it usually helps if you at least try to do a lil legwork before asking a repeated question (that has an obvious answer if you know anything about mechanics anyways).

and its not an obvious answer...it can be done...
i was just wondering it it would be worth it.

no a colbalt ss supercharger will not work with an ohv ln2 engine the colbalt ss engine is a dohc ecotec the engines are completely different then the vortec supercharger they are talking about, if you knew anything about cars you would realize these engines are completely different
Erik Packard

I has a Cobalt SS supercharger on my 2.2L...

tinkles you have the eco tec and quicklilcav would it really be worth the time to fab it when a turbo kit would be a lot cheaper then having a custom intake made let alone how would you fit it between the fire wall and where the intake sits i dont think it would fit on a pre 98 2.2

You mean they are not the same engine?!?!?!

Worth is subjective. If you can fab all of your own parts and have the time and knowledge to do it right and for less than other ways or if youre dead set on being different then its worth is to you.

i was pondering that idea the other day and i ended with the same idea quik had, it's doable but it'd be a bitch no two things about it
