I need a new one lol. Doesnt like fast shifting into 3rd anymore and down shifting into 2nd and 1st is almost impossible... I dont think it likes all that power blasting thru it anymore haha. Anyone know where I can get a used one?!?!?!

You might want to look into a couple of things.

1) possibly an upgrade to a getrag or something
2) See if the engine is rocking around. I'm pretty sure mine does and that gives me a problem shifting at times.

Also, make sure you haven't broken any mounts. The 2nd gen guys have told me that the 3400 is good at it.

I would seriously consider looking for an Isuzu made one, not a GM one. They can be found in the Geo Storms and the Isuzu Stylus, and probably a few other cars. I'm not sure if the mounts are different, but the parts will swap into our case. The synchro is stronger, as is the differential carrier. Also, the gearing is a little different, and you can mix them. If you're really lucky, you'll even find one with 4.11 FDR. I'm hoping to hunt one of those down by next winter, because my plans are to build my tranny and the motor next year.

This is why I swap to getrags when doing these swaps.

If i'm not mistaken the diff with the 4:11 on it would be from the Geo Storm GSi, and the hole for the axle is a different size.

That may be the case, but if so, the carrier for the one with the same size axles as ours will take the 4.11 gears. I'll have to find my notes on the tranny build to be sure, but I know you can build a hybrid geared Isuzu with the heavy duty carrier, 4.11 FDR, heavy duty synchro's, and get it all into our factory case. And of course, an LSD to cap it off.

I'd say swap to a getrag, and add an LSD and then be done with it.

Qucklilcav's tranny build sounds nice though....

Yeah, but the actual Isuzu is stronger than the Getrag.

I would say adjust your driving.

The only benefit of the Getrag is it is cheaper to replace. That being said I have spent more on replacing Getrags in my 02 than I did when i put a NEW Isuzu in my 98.

The 4.11 are from the DOHC Geo Storm and Isuzu Impulse, but the axles do fit in the differential. A friend of mine has used the diff while I used the 4.11's

So the internals from the Geo Storm tranny will work in ours, but the differential won't? Little confused as far as the differential, but pretty sure I found some GSi trannies in yards nearby.

He's saying that the diff from the GSi will, but I am pretty sure you needed the non-GSi carrier in order to keep your factory axles. I got this info from someone who has built a couple of Isuzu's before, so I trust it.
