I believe other people have gone the summit route. Just check your clearances before you start it up to make sure they wont hit the head, eachother, or the valve cover.

even with the crane kit you have to mod the valve cover........but gm makes a kit that fits....i wish that there was a way to match up with the stock ones.....sts has a set that fits the s-10 but i dont know if its the same 2200 orr is it a little different?????

They would be the same, and a lot of people didn't have to do anything to thier valve cover with the cranes either. I had to do some very slight grinding for clearance, but nothing major. Took roughly 5-10 seconds to do.

Oh, and the GM ones you have to do the same modification to the valve cover.

You just have to take a small amount off by cyl #3 if i remember correctly. There was VERY slight interference on my set up, so I had to take VERY little off. But other people have run them without modding the vc at all.

Sorry for the slow reply, but for more info concerning tthe rocker arm conversions read:2.2/2200 Rocker Arm List.

As for specifics on the '98+ 2200's, you'll need the narrow bodied 3/8" stud, self-aligning rocker arms, such as uesed on the '87+ Small Block Chevys w/ the hydraulic roller cams. If it's a '98 2200, you'll need to check to see if your motor uses the 10mm rocker stud or the 8mm rocker studs, they came with both. All '99 and laters should use the 8mm studs.

As was stated in the link above, as long as you use the correct studs, all the rocker arms are for SBCs. Just be sure to use the narrow bodied, self-aligning rockers with the '98+ 2200. You won't gain anything (or very little if at all) using a stamped rocker. The pivot ball fulcrum creates too much friction.

As far as which is better 1.5 or 1.6 ratio, if you don't plan on changing the cam, use the 1.6. If you plan on changing the cam, be it one of the few aftermarket cams or getting your own regrind, it depends on your valve train. The stock valve train (springs, locks, retainers and vlave stem seals) can only handle 0.480" lift, were trying to work out a mangable set up for more lift on the 2200. If plan on changing cams, you'll need to multiply the lobe lift times the rocker ratio, to figure out how much total lift will be. Use too much lift and you will damage your valve train.

Those questions can be answered on howell automotive's page, where there are detailed instructions about installing and adjusting them.

if it is something you are not comfortable with....you should find someone who has done them before. there are lots of sbc guys out there that do these all the time.

The stock pushrods are 3/8" X 7.448". To determine the length needed, this from Circle Track Magazine. There are a few different companies that make custom pushrod or stock various lengths. Try Summit Racing or Jeg's high performance for pricing and availability. Don't expect them to list them for this motor, look under SBC, BBC or custom/ premade lengths.
