My girlfriend recently got her licence suspended for 3 months, she has her car on collateral through a finance company. She cancelled her liability and had to send her license plate back, the finance company wont let her cancel her comprehensive she has through them. Just wondering how she can be forced to pay insurance on a vehicle that is sitting in a garage and nobody can drive for at least the next 3 months. I didn't even think someone without a license could have any vehicle insurance on a non registered vehicle.
she would need insurance if she has a loan on the car regardless if she has a license or not. Insurance is required because whether you can drive or not the car can be damaged and they want the car covered encase she defaults it is in the best condition as possible for resale.
going to have to suck it up and pay for 3 months.
yup if the car isnt in your name and still has a lien on it then you have to have it insured at all times.
you might be able to put it on restricted duty, and get the insurance costs reduced. i swap my cars around like that for summer/winter.
K, figured it worked like that, kinda sucks lol. Ill have to check on the restricted duty thing tomorrow. Thanks!
why did she lose her license anyways? regular girl driving or is she worse than that?
For not wearing a seatbelt in NC... Got pulled over on our way home, like 4 miles from VA border too. She must have thought since we didnt live there she wouldn't get her license suspended for not paying fine because she never paid lol. Who knows... told her to take it as a lesson learned.
i could see if it was a 200 dollar ticket but a seat belt ticket for 40 bucks she didnt pay? i wouldnt even take the chance and just pay the money

Aaaannnnddd sexism out of left field!
All kidding aside, women are starting to become statistically worse drivers than men. So why are we still paying more from the get go? :\

It's not sexism it's truth. I hate constantly being tailgated or being flew past by female drivers all the meanwhile on their cellphones. Yes guys do it too, but I'd say on my commute to school it's far more female than male.

thank you, you're a good man ronny.
thats @!#$in retarded! for a seatbelt ticket? I never paid my ticket I got in NJ for no license plate on the front, been pulled over a few times and it was never an issue. Hell, my bro gets tickets a few towns over, doesn't pay them and they never come back to haunt him! HA! thats just retarded! I will pour one out for her...
check to see if the insurance co will let it drop with the verification of it being in the garage and copy of the home owners insurance
home owners ins will cover anything even if its a car in the garage
If its a loan, she should be able to put it under a storage insurance which severely reduces the costs. If its a lease it would need full coverage regardless.
well maybe people should start paying fines that they get, instead of trying to skate out of a 100 dollar ticket. Either that or put on your damn seatbelt
