So I might have accidently gained interest back in my car again. I am going to the dyno next Friday, December 1, 2006. I will be there at 9:00 am incase if anybody was interested and wanted to join for the ride. I will be making a video of it too just like I did for the first dyno.
My plans are to see if I can pull off a few things next year:
1. Getting the Cobalt SS pulley, I plan to measure the next Cobalt SS' pulley that I can find with the hood open. I already know that my pulley is 3.5" and everyone tells me that the SS has a 3.38" pulley. So if possible I will try to get one and switch. (I know you say why not go for a smaller one but keep reading and you will find out).
2. Going with an optima slim line battery so I can shift it back to where the stock intake location is. (Why not move it to the trunk? Because of all the stupid NHRA rules that go along with it and since I have to apply to all these rules then I would rather just keep it under the hood. Even though it isn't 100% out of the option just yet.)
3. Installing a new intake. Obviously will have to be custom fabricated but I intend to put the intake in the front bumper most likely. (The other option I have thought of was to keep the filter in the engine compartment with a short tube, seal it with a heat shield, then run a tube to where the fog lights are in the front bumper since I don't have fog lights.)
4. Install a new exhaust to open up some air flow for what is about to come next. (But this will be a very quiet setup nothing major)
These are the things I hope to get done next year all depending on what happens with this dyno next Friday. Anything under 220 WHP (which I think we all know means it will happen since I won't be pushing that high). And I will be investigating the most cost effective and highest output way of doing this. In addition my final goals and the reason I am not going with a smaller pulley is because I will be running nitrous. I have now finished enough research on the topic to know that I can run nitrous with the supercharger, legally drive around with it, and as long as I get EVERYTHING that is required to make it a "reliable" setup things should be good to go
. And hopefully I should be seeing between 250-260 WHP when I am done if not more.
My goal is to see if i can pull off being a 12 second street legal Cavalier that still gets 30+ mpg and has a full sleeper look and sound to it. I know this is only a goal for now and words are only words but who knows it may happen. So far all summer long I could see very low 14 second numbers and was able to tip high 13's on good runs. I think with those four things I just mentioned for a couple hundred dollars I should be seeing 13's regularly and the nitrous hopefully will be enough of a kick to get me into the 12's. The reason I don't want to just do it all boost is because of the hair dryer effect that the supercharger keeps creating. I'm sick of seeing high intake temperature numbers that kill my performance. So the nitrous will cool down the temperature while adding a good kick of power as well.
And worst case scenario the motor blows up and I junk the car. Let's hope for the best.

as for the sunfire I am closer and closer to boost. I finally pieced together my alcohol injection kit and have been prepping the car for boost. I plan to put the charger on in the month off i have from school in december for christmas. Drop it, scrap the spoiler, go with the older style sunfire rear bumper, new clutch as well and thats thats.
I would love to put the supercharger on my brothers sunfire. Just so that when I have to drive it I'm not bitching that I don't have boost.

Last I talked to Jay he was taking a break from the car stuff. He was more interested in paint ball. Who knows if he will show up or not.
