I went ahead and made the new post (hope you do not mind). I'm including the info Eric posted (this was good info)
We are in fact trying to keep it the same date/weekend...also i have a actuall write up that you can send/give to sponsor hopefuls that explains everything...
as for locations heres what i have so far.....
1. Old Town...Kissimmee, Fl......has been contacted by matt w. and is awaiting a answer tomorrow!
2. Speed World Dragway, Orlando Fl./Bithlo.....email has been sent, i am calling or stopping by tomorrow mafternoon to talk to someone
3. Waterford Lakes(Simon Mall), stopping by the main office tomorrow to talk to whoever i have to about holding it there...
4. Dennys on Sandlake.....was informed by a org member that they hold car shows there so matt is gonna call them on his break tomorrow.
5. Gm Dealerships....I will try and contact a couple tomorrow and see what they say if they would even like to help out or not!!
6. Advanced Autoparts Warehouse....Matt is talking to his DM tomorrow to see if its a possibility
7. Hooters/Winghouse....i will contact them and see what they say seeings how i know they are into that kind of thing....
As for sponsors....well we had a great one but i think today was his boiling point....so we have nothing!!!(
i have contacted all of these places in regards to sponsoring the show
IZN TRBL-Josh.....was very willing but not so sure due to uncertainty!!
MMS (Modified Motorsports).....was very willling, but havent heard anything in about a month or so
RKSport....called and emailed no response
AutoZone.....No response
Versus Motorsports....No response
JBO....No response
A+ Performance.....NO response
and some local places contacted by matt and myself
Kustom Koncepts
Babb audio
a&a audio
absolute audio
auto options
Street Shakin Grafix
+ more....i have to check emails to get all of them
I would like to add a couple idea's and info.
When talking with GM dealers. might be a god idea to pitch it as a GM SportCompact event held by the FL J-body's. Since J's are no longer made some might be on the edge as to do it, but with hope for other GM (current sold cars) they might be more willing. This is just a idea.
Also Chris W in Ocala has a audio shop that has donated stuff for the last few years. I'm sure he can get them again, but you might want to contact him in regards to it.
Hopefully Casey can still work with Matt Teske (Casey if you need I can talk to him as well, but only if you want me to). Of course I think before talking to many sponsor's we need to have a location and set date.
I have a question. These locations above (except dealers) are they pretty close to last location? I'm thinking about hotel and car wash options.
FU Tuning
All the locations are within about 25 mins of racerock with some being 5-10 away..... thanks for posting the info in here i was just getting ready to copy paste it in here....I actually brought up that same thing to alexis about the J platform being a dead line, and the dealers not wanteing to support it for that reason....i think im gonna use the Gm platform and loyalty angle when i talk to them about it...Shirt and tie..... cant wait:/

i def agree... but we still need to work on getting them so that we arent stuck on that when it comes around......i am also gonna try and write up a revised Sponsor sheet with a Level of Participation offer....like a ladder type of thing....me and thomas talked about this tonight as well
As far as hotels and car washes and stuff go...this is Orlando we have a million car washes and Hotels...no worries on that end!!
On a side note....When talking to Alexis and Thomas tonight on our conference call!! The question ws brought up to me about if we cant get a venue in Orlando, would we be willing to have it somewhere else....I know i would be fine with it not being exactly in Orlando...i know matt is not against it either and from what I know neither is Jason.... So Alexis brought up Bradenton Dragstrip...she is gonna contact them and get info on that as well!!

there is also a drag strip in Lakeland i will add to the list to call in the morning
My reason in asking about location distance and hotel info is because lots of us liked the hotel from last year and they gave us a good price. Trying to get a idea if staying in the same area (which also made it easy to walk and get food) is possible. Not saying we have to stay at the same hotel as last year, but just thinking ahead. As soon as we have a location set we d need to contact hotels to get prices set and people can reserve rooms.
As for if you guys can't get a location in Orlando. This show will go on (I do not mean that against you guys), but we will have one. It was voted for Orlando and you guys have a chance and time to make new arrangements for a locations. If and once it is decided you can't make those arrangements then we had 2 follow up cities in voting to choose from to take over. Let's just hope we do not need to do that. I have faith we won't.
I do have another question. has anyone tried to call RaceRock (maybe get a contact for the new owner of the land)? To see if it is possible to still do it there? maybe use the angle that this was a planned thing. Even if the place is not open as long as they are not in process of tearing it down the location could still work. This is probably a long shot, but a idea. I know someone else (maybe Muffin mentioned this as well)

when we get a location here i will scout the area of all hotels and see if i can work something out with them for a group rate

They are being bought by a silent firm as far as i know and it will be torn down within the next few months....Everything on International drive is pretty much gonna be bought out and turned into Timeshares/ Condos....kinda sad but thats corporate america for you!!

I won't repeat what everyone else has said. Instead, I'll offer up more options
One of the issues Eric and I talked about was possibly restructuring the sponsor proposal a bit. Maybe adding a "tiered sponsorship" would be better than one flat rate. This might reach out to a few more companies than we currently have, and may even pull some of those who were put off to begin with. Something like
Mucho's Gracias: Donate an item to raffle off
Bronze: $25 and donate an item to raffle
Silver: $50 and donate an item to raffle
Gold: $75 and donate an item to raffle
Platinum: $100 and donate an item to raffle
Holy @!#$ you're awesome: $200 and donate item to raffle
Also, just a few more companies that weren't mentioned.
Ones that get a lot of business from JBO: Gravana, Boosted, Team Vision Racing, Carcustoms, TurboTech Racing, ShowStopperTuning.
Also, any company that make products for the cars (AEM, Eibach, Pacesetter, TYC, etc.). I started to list a bunch out.... but there's too many.
Companies that make products for a lot of cars. Magnaflow, Streetglow, Alpine, Pioneer, etc. etc. etc.
The only real limitations here are how many people we contact.
the FL mall is always crazy busy on sat. I guess its kinda always crazy busy there period. Festival bay mall? millenia mall?since we are talking about malls.
I heard back from Waterford Lakes today and i have a meeting with the lady tomorrow so im crossing my fingers!!i will stop by Speedworld while im out as wel and see if thats a possibility....

heh, I go to Prague for the weekend, and all hell breaks loose with the florida j show.
I will say this (whether you wanna read it or not). Back 4 years ago the guy who was planning the 4th show in wpb disappeared. me, jose (z2flip4) and chris (no longer on the site) put it together in about a month. basically after a lot of drama, lost love, and heartbreak, the show went on. we did pay for a park site, but it was only $100. i also got the bs from the park originally because of the rent a cop thing, but when we basically told them this wasn't hin or nopi, that this was a group of 20 guys getting together to have a barbeque, they agreed no problem.
i think you guys are overexaggerating how much of a "big show" this really is, this is more like a group of people that come to hang out.
sponsors? i find that hilarious. with the exception of steve because he's personally involved with the show and has done a great job in the past with all the shows, regardless of the disagreements as there will always be some. how can you tell a sponsor that you're serious, when you dont even have a venue and date set? in the past, meguiars sent me a thing of soap and brochures (who remembers the soap packets !!!

) and i got karo to donate a $50 gift certificate to the show (even though what was really going to happen was i was going to pay for it out of my own pocket, but at least carcustom's name was there). in fact, peter w/ the peppermint sunfire who won it never claimed it lol. also got some stickers people to come out (which i think was a total waste of their time, but hey i tried) and also got a dj to come out for a couple hours to mess around.
all the money that was put into the show was put out of my own (and jose and chris's) pockets. tshirts, trophies, park rental, everything. steve has told me in the past that he has also put in his own money into the show. i gained some of that money back the day of the show, and i also was really heartfelt when people at the end of the show bought the spare tshirts just so my $$ loss would be less. hell, members even offered to paypal me extra money.
my suggestions are: 1) relax on the focus of a "big car show", because people mistake it for what it really is. its a group of cars that get together for a barbeque. use this as your proposal. 2) you should be able to find a place, that doesn't need to be citywalk or something rediculous, relatively quickly. hell, we did it in a park with our own little secluded area, and everyone had a great time (or at least they lied to me that they did

). 3) do not be afraid to change the date. we had to, and it worked out.
like i said, everything we did after we had a major disaster for show number 4, and three of us basically starting from scratch, was within one months time. and that included everything that has been mentioned in the past few months for this current show.
i have faith that it can be done, and good luck with your endeavors.

- Sold my beloved J in April 2010 -
had a nice chat with steve last night and hopefully he'll have an answer about location this afternoon.
just a thought, make sure when you guys are meeting with thse places to present the idea of hosting our show there that you are not wearing jeans/shorts and a t-shirt. presentation is everything...
also no more negative posts! if it isn't positive or going to benefit the group/show in anyway please keep it to yourselves. we really need the bickering to stop if this shows going to continue. i'd also like to mention that when posting comment that you be careful with you capitals and punctuation, this sets the tone of a comment.
Jason, if you could give me a call sometime this week 813-404-4825.
That is all
Donnie
matt wentz Dont call Amy I have already taken care of this at Old Town I will be talking to the owner today and have anwser this afternoon.
Viper98912 - I'm sorry but that show you guys did was no show I was not a fan of it at all.

SHOCKWAVE IS BACK
One place that I talked to while I was getting my n2o bottle filled at told me that they do support local shows in some way. So if anybody wants to contact them to see what they'll do for us by all means, the guy seemed quite nice about it. Heres the contact info:
American MotorSports
4130 N. Orange Blossom Trail
Orlando, Florida 32804
Phone: 407-290-6565
Fax: 407-290-9899
Didnt see them in the above stuff so figured I'd throw that out there. And since other people know more bout the show than I it would prolly be better if they contacted. lol.. I just know he was semi interested while I was talkin to him in the shop.
