What did you find a doner car for the engine out of the black car or did ya just buy a car with an ecotec already in it? Or did you somehow fix the black one?

actually worse news. green car is totalled now. was rear ended just like my black car 2 days ago. in the same exact spot parked outside my house.

I bought it as a DD since my sunfire is oficially a "project" car now that my tranny problems went from an annoyance to more of a "what the hell is that sound coming from underneath the car!" Now that is't a summer only car, i should be able to trear it apart and fix it come spring....

Heh looks like I'm joining the list on screwed up transmissions. Mine started making grinding noises internally in the transmission, took her to the shop, couldn't figure out what it is. So its getting ripped out and rebuilt! Thank you Isuzu! At least since the tranny is gonna get ripped out I'm gonna have them re-tourque the flywheel and pressure plate to see if that takes away some of the clutch chatter. And on top of all of that this week I'm sick as hell! What a great week before hunting season...
Hey mat is it making a sound like a loose axle like mine is? my car sounds just like its got a popped axle when I let off the gas but I checked and their fine..... I think its coming from the diff.... maybee the spider gears or the splines where the axles go in.... but im not sure.
I don't know... when I changed the oil I did a once over and everything seemed snug... I guess the guy thats working on it has a pretty good idea what the problem is... so we'll see what happens.

Well my car is spending rest of the winter in my garage, just got a 01 v6 Cougar for a DD the best part is i got it for free so can't really complain. Hopefully i'll get some time to work on the cavalier this winter.

Work on it as you have repairs? Or work on it as in you have parts to go on it? Did you ever get them pullies on?

I need a clutch alignment tool...ASAP... And I can't remember what I did with mine... I thought I gave it to Gary, but I was wrong. Anybody remember what I did with it? Or anyplace I can get one?
Matt you left the alignment tool at my house. My car runs good but i think its time to make it little faster.
Plans:
Remove the interior.
75 shot of nitrous.
New Clutch.
Cams.
Pulleys.
Drag Radials.
Remove the Exhaust (DP only)
Finish my suspension.
Tune.
RSM 62 mm T/B
RSM Intake manifold.
My HO manifold is for sale with 2.3 T/B

At least I got to go on a motorcycle trip this summer..... I had to ride one of my parents harleys since my bike was down... it was a fun 3 day trip though and we just camped out wherever the cops didn't mess with us.

I think its time you guys upgrade to Getrag tranny's, nothing but problems with Isuzu's.

I'de like to, but it's just to much damn work..... and it;s the kind of work where if you screw up, the headaches that ensue would be epic..... so I'll just fiqure out how to fix the Izuzu and learn to live with it (for now).
ALmir... my dads Mustang is an 86 LX with a 5.0 HO and a 5-speed manual. (First year for fuel injected 5.0 mustangs).
Other than the paint, rims, and the stereo..... the car is pretty much completely stock, he had glass packs put in place of the stock mufflers, and put a shift light on the steering column. and thats it.
The last time I raced him with my Sunfire was before I put my cams in.... and we where dead even every time (until I hit my speed limiter)....
It's pretty fun to drive though...

i dont see how the spider gears mean the trans needs a rebuild
options
1. just put in a new diff with a team green lsd.
2. quaife lsd - replace that whole diff, but idk if quaife makes one for the isuzu.
3. nvg swap ftmfw!!!!!
4. 00-02 getrag swap - awesome choice but u need a new clutch setup.
imo u should start searching for the nvg becuase you can keep you new clutch setup you have and the trans is awesome.
i have both and isuzu and an nvg laying around. nvg for sure grinds second and forth, will need a rebuild. the isuzu ???? i have no clue about, i was told it may grind, it may not. i never used it but was told it had grinded but was told it was due to the shifter assembly for 2 reasons. the rod was cut so low it was about 2-3 in above the ball, and the actual bracket that was bolted to the car was snapped so when shifting it would flex instead of allowing the cables to move correctly causing it to grind. ryan, josh, and i can verify this shifter assembly.
im just ready to get rid of them for some college money so ill let them go for 100 each. matt if you want the isuzu and wanna rip it apart for a new diff to replace urs this would be a good option, ryan told me it had lower miles as it was the replacement trans for the car. maybe the original trans was still good and it was the shifter that was broken causing the tranny to be assumingly broken, i cant say yes this is the cause of it occasionally grinding therefor ill let the trans go cheap at my loss.
if no one really wants them worst case is ill core them at french lake, they are worth 70ish a core there.
also if no new shell comes up or if i move on to a diff car i will be parting out my green car and that nvg and spec stage 3 & the alum flywheel will be up for sale.
ill keep you guys posted. but dont be waiting on this option.
