BONER!!! omfg im at full mast. 2.4 VVT + M62 = wad

224whp with an otherwise stock vvt 2.4 AND m62.... nope, not enough im saying ditch those 52lb rims/tires for some forged goodness and it would see another 10whp.

and wonder what those boys did for tuning.... hada be HPT i dont see how the GMPP flash for the L61 would work seeing as how the tune would be for a non vvt engine. unless of course GM made a tune...???

Man thats kind of scary how much we think alike sometimes. Those were my thoughts exactly. I sent the shop that posted the video a message asking them how they did it. I have got a feeling it might have been done with the old fmu route in order to keep the vvt

Hey Brad remember my crazy thoughts about boosting the LE5? And you are probably correct on the HPT thing, seeing as the L61 flash would not work, but the LSJ flash might...you never know. They could have even gotten their hands on one of the new turbo balt tunes, though I see that a lil harder to come by.

Most likely HPTuners... they were lucky enough to get tuning capabilities without going piggyback.

well you guys all know my dream...

cobalt ss N/A 2.4 VVT with a turbo

honestly, the only beef ive ever had with the ecotec is because it was smaller (2.2) and i never liked gm for doing that, downgrading the engine size i mean. the 2.4 vvt engine is definatly the exception to my little 'rule'.

just think if gm would have done the 2.4 vvt and turboed it, the new css would be a freaking god in the tuner world. srt-4 what?

The thing is GM went down in displacement, but maintained power, within a few hp, actual hp rating for the ecotec is 148 by the latest stats I've seen. I don't know, the cav was probably still only 140, but could run identical 1/4 times to an LD9 and when you start the minor bolt ons the eco actually starts to pass the LD9 in the quarter, bolt on for bolt on. Now this is saying that both drivers have equal skill or the same driver drives both cars. All in all, stock for stock L61 > LD9. In almost every aspect, dependibility, yep the eco wins hands down there...stock vs. stock. Ease of working on...eco again. Power, they are equal in quarter times although the LD9 may make more power, the eco is much lighter than the iron horse LD9.

And yeah if GM had turbo'd the LE5, then it would be SRT-what? That car would be so detuned though and GM probably would not leave the 10.5:1 compression in there either, possible a drop down to like 9.8 or so.

Here's some engine stats for ya...

you forget the main thing...

2.2-2.4

that .2 of displacement gives you a bigger dick

seriously though, ive always loved how most of the time gm throws out the larger displacement engines as compared to the other tuner car manufactures. and having a 2.4 is just that much better lol.

theres no replacement for displacement. (well ok, boost... and spray.... and cams....and internals... )BAHAHAHAHAAHA ok.

They say SS All over them... maybe a set out of a G5. They are the same black leather, but don't say anything.

Re: Omaha and surrounding area's... (clean)

I think the reason most of the other manufacturers have stayed w/ smaller displacement is to keep them high revving. Notice the redline on most of the imports. At least 500-1000 more than that of their domestic counterparts w/ bigger displacement. Just a thought.

I think by going smaller in the bore of the piston and a lil shorter on the stroke, GM is trying to play catch up w/ the imports, honestly they shoulda stuck to their guns and stayed "@!#$ it, we'll just give our engines more displacement." I still wish there was a way other than stand alone to put the LE5 in a Cav. That would be tits, a REAL Z24 again.

Hey steve, you find out bout that front bumper?

yeah curt, but we've got the torque... lol so it all evens out

steve-you can find cobalt LS black leather seats, they're just like the SS's but dont say SS in them. they too are all over car-part.com. would you believe me if i told you i got my CSS back seat for $160 SHIPPED off ebay? lol cuz i did... mint condition too, out of an 06 that got totaled in the first 1000 miles.

my front seats on the other hand... were WAY more expensive and in worse condition but, i cleaned them up real good and they look just fine.

I just got off the phone with smgautosports. They said the car was tuned with hpt and that it is also running a heat exchanger. Otherwise the car is completly stock exterior as well as still having a stock exhaust. They told me that they made a few custom brackets for the pump and the coolant reservoir. I was told that the biggest problem with doing this again is that the 2.4's manual transmission is not as strong as the 2.0. They said it is not an issue at the current 224whp level the car is at now but could be in the future. The guy I talked to was very impressed with the way the VVT was set from the factory. He said it had a strong pull all the way through the rev range before and after the supercharger. I was also told they are working on putting a kit together to do this and that they hope to have it for sale in a few months. They are finishing up a turbo 2.2 cobalt sedan today.

I haven't looked into the bumper... I kind of ran into some fianacial issues here lately.

The Heat exchanger they use is out of an 03 Cobra. Most common I have seen.

I didn't know they had Leather in the LS and LT models... will have to keep my eyes peeled.

Need my tax return to get here! Damn 5-8 Weeks of waiting is gunna kill me!

Anybody need any intercooler piping?

I ordered an intake from that jdmparts site and got an intercooler kit, minus the intercooler.

Maybe it was a sign!
