Fully loaded boosted Z24?

Okay I need some feedback on this. And lets be serious.

My current goal on my Z24 is to run a fully built LD9. My Z24 is fully loaded with power everything including a sun roof.

Well I feel having these options is appealing to a Cavalier thus I refuse to remove the AC system and strip the interior all together. (i give lots of girls a ride...and well they always ask to turn on the ac....thats another story so back on subject).

So basically I want to run a high powered boosted Z24 still with the comfort of AC and a full interior.

What my question is will the AC compressor be fine under high RPM's while the ac is "OFF". I've heard it can be damaged if left on and run under a high load and "should" turn off @ WOT.

I want to refrain from turning my Z24 into a metal box with just horeses under the hood....its been done! So what about a luxury fully loaded high horsepower Z24?...LOL I know but Im serious....and please be serious.

Im considering of rerouting my ac unit away from the timing chain so that I will have better access to the adjustable timing gear window. Or my last alternative will be to run an electric ac compressor....expensive so I really dont want to go down this route.

Here is an example....
electric ac compressor...

I'm confused, the AC compressor isn't anywhere near the cam gears, and it's not in the way of the Timing chain housing cover either. I've never removed the AC compressor on the numerous times I've removed the timing chain housing cover. Are you maybe referring to the Accumulator (even though that's nowhere near the timing chain housing either)?

I have no signiture

Yes you are right the compressor is not...however the plumbing is. Im switching over to a TTR motor mount soon so maybe that will give me more clearance to adjust the gears on the dyno. I just hate how the plumbing runs over the mount along side of the engine.

Coming from a owner with a loaded Z24 minus sunroof. I'm sure yours is at least 3000lb or more.

Thank you for bringing up the issue of weight. I have greatly considered removal of the ac system will aid in weight reduction...however im not going to be running an all motor J. It will be boosted and will not be a track rat....thus why I plan to keep the luxury essentials.

Plus again a metal box (no interior, no ac, etc.) jbody has already proved to make horsepower. So its been done. This will be a daily driven vehicle....so ac is a must in Texas.

The computer automatically shuts off the compressor once a particular rpm point is hit and turns back on once it view back down.

Yup SLO CAV is correct their is a AC disengage and re engage in the ECU

This is adjustable via HPTuners

My Z24 is fullyloaded minus sunroof and block heater. Fun car. Of course I have a charger and not turbo, but it holds it's own. I would not worry about the fully loaded, and or weight if it is a street toy.

And everyone used to say the same thing about a high performance J-body....look it now this community has helped change that.

Anyways yes its a street toy .....I plan to enjoy driving it everyday Im not driving the GTZ. But Im serious it gets pretty hot here in Texas. Honestly if its just me in the car I dont use the AC....but like today...>MAN IT WAS HOT AND HUMID AS HELL! So I turned it on and boy did it help after getting off of work.

So what do ya'll think about an electrical AC compressor?
