SO in the ongoing saga, have a P0730 popping up and going away randomly on me while driving, so it moves back and forth in and out of @!#$ mode, got her home today and even though the trac off light was off it was going into gear REALLY hard and making the 1-2 upshift pretty hard too. I am going to do some more diagnostics with regards to the EPC solenoid hopefully friday to see what I can find. Wondering if the car making more torque as the shift occurs is not causing some mayhem with the computers ability to decipher gear ratio changes and hence, setting the improper gear ratio code. Which explains away the hard shifting.

I did not change the speedo settings on the tune I had in the car. There is two configuration parameters that are different from the LN2 to LD9. That was what was causing it to drop into limp mode.

Thanks Ryan, I had posted this before I asked ya about it...drove the car today with no problems so far! Thanks again!

Onward Upward....in more news today, got the MAP to 155kPA and 1/2 throttle and holy @!#$ it pulls hard.....

Ok guys, more updates...

Tomorrow I have dyno time booked, unfortunatly since innovate is retarded I cant seem to get my wideband set up and logging correctly in HPT. So Basically I'm going to be doing it very carefully and little by little, time consuming but should be able to get some decent results.

So, in the morning, Neon swap goes on in the rear...Dyno time right after that...my goals being fix the HARD bogging that I get under higher load conditions (+65% TPS and above 3500RPM) IT literally hits a brick wall, thinking either timing or restricted exhaust (I've been driving around pig rich and still have a cat on her...so Bringing pipe to pull the cat if need be, backpressure testing will verify if this is the case. And of course lean out the lower end stuff so I'm not puking hydrocarbons out the tailpipe anymore...

If all goes well I may have a new exhaust on her too...

Busy day, busy day...

hey man i would give yourself a little more time with the neon swap. I had a terrible time with all the hardware being frozen on my setup. Broke a couple bolts and it was a huge headache. just my .02 though. Your setup looks awesome, i should be in the same boat as you sometime in the fall (hopefully).

Great thread, nice buildup...you are doing what I was on the road to doing, on my old OHV before it got pasted.... a cam would have made a nice difference, and possibly stiffer springs...tuning via hp tuners? How about ignition upgrades like a DIS II and thicker plugwires?

Don't buy from MANTAPART!!
There is no easy ways to get HP, no magic box or gizmo... And if you get more hp, there's no way to make your car still behave and sound like a stock one. More hp usually makes your car louder, more vibrations and harder to drive...but still people hope or think maby there's some magic way to have it all, comfort, stock sound and drive.

I should have...Although my issue was not with stuck hardware...

I had it down to bare axles on both sides in about an hour...prepped and ready with new wheel studs and everything... The rest of the morning was piddling around with fitment issues such as grinding the axle mounts on top to clearance the new brackets, completely removing (after @!#$ with them for an hour) the majority of the dust shields...then turning about 0.030" off the inside lip of the rotors (The one that always hits the dust shields because of spacing issues...) So after all of that...lunch...then ran to my house because I realized I was stuck in the realm of the lost baggy of important @!#$... All my caliper bolts, hardware, return springs etc for the parking brake...mysteriously disappeared. So hardware and caliper bolts i'm waiting for for over an hour for the two stores I got them from to deliver, then off back to my house half hour across town with a shop car to see if I can find my baggy... No such luck.

Return in the afternoon, more piddly work...get the lines and fittings on...not too bad, most of my @!#$ gets taken care of so the flare nuts are usually never a problem...never had to use the blue wrench to get anything busted loose. Come around 5 o clock I finally have already made the deccision to just throw it together without a parking brake cause chrysler cant get ahold of any of the parts anyway for a few days. Oh well. Onward...got everything hydraulically buttoned up and moved onto the Residual pressure valves. For those of you who have done this they are 12mmx1.0 on one end and 10mmx1.0 on the other. No such luck as far as any kind of unions to make that happen without getting rediculous...so out they come, pull them apart take the guts out...back in...Go to bleed them and it pisses brake fluid all over the floor...at 4:50...@!#$...

Long story short, when you do this, take out all the springs and the retainer and plastic valve assembly out of the valves...leave the rest, there is a sealing surface thats not evident when you pull it apart, otherwise you'll take them out....put them in...and have to take them out again and reinstall some @!#$ to fix the leak.

Done right? Brakes are bled etc? Sure, lets bolt the wheel on...

Funny the left rear wont turn once i torque the lugs...

Brake pads get wedged between the rotor and the caliper bracket that has the threaded hole the caliper bolts go into, it must be ground back and either the caliper bolts shortened or washered...

Either way shop closed down at 5....I was out of there by 7. But NOTHING got done on the dyno so no vids yet boys...

But soon soon, in time.

Looks killer though, I love it. :-)

Exhaust piping from summit did not show up till later in the day either so it would not have mattered with the exhaust anyway either...oh well :-) Maybe tomorrow :-)

I will dont worry, if I get it tuned and such I think I will be heading up to HRC to have Adam rip through a couple numbers for me. Bill has been in contact with me, about getting it tuned since I caught up with him last season at 66 but he is currently out in flordia for a bit so that wont happen. The dyno I'm using is a mustang dyno but it was used for IM240 testing so it will not give a readout above 150hp. I'm POSITIVE I have more than that...lol

They are white face gauges and the letters stay a pretty dark blue in the day, needles are blood red. Its a 140mph cluster conversion from Alex. (From alex to alex :-)) Also the text and numbers match my glowshift white 7 gauges as well, so its a pretty sick setup. :-)

Turbo is off guys, Tonight heres what went down...

Was having trouble getting the car to run right (Barely ran at all) in closed loop. Tracked it down to a faulty O2 that would not go below bias voltage so the computer kept subtracting fuel, running her so lean that it would kill itself if i did'nt keep the throttle feathered to keep her running. This is all at idle... Well intake is in the way to get to the stock O2 so long story short I bought a new O2 and put it in tonight...

So I went to put my new O2 sensor in...and took off the intake and @!#$ to get to it... and happened to take a look inside my turbo...and what do I find? Did not notice at first but soon did that the rubber grommet inside the large hole in the last section of tube thats before the turbo (Actually a neon intake part where the IAT goes in) was missing. Well where did it go? Not on the ground, not sitting on, in, or around the car... A rubber grommet got pulled into the turbo, bending one of the compressor fins... So...turbo is @!#$ and car is down for a bit. Going to run it out tomorrow to my turbo wizard Russ at RS Distributing in Minooka and have him take a look and determine if it needs a new wheel or not. Possibly not bent far enough to cause an issue with repositioning the blade...but likely it will just snap and a new wheel will be required. Big setback but one that could have gotten REALLY bad really quickly. Luckily I did not boost it hard (or hardly at all) last night driving home. More lucky that I caught it right away and was able to find out what happened. So tomorrow front bumper gets popped off, intercooler gets backflushed and hopefully Russ can fit me in during the day and get me rolling again without too much trouble or expense.

Really am quite lucky honestly, sucks ass, but really am quite lucky. Needless to say the grommet and hose setup will be replaced by some nice fittings and maybe running by next week...we shall see.

I knew chrysler parts would be bad voodoo for this thing...

Ok guys, cav is back up and running again...

I can tell you this, if you have a turbo car, NEVER underestimate the value of having a reputable shop that specializes in turbochargers in your area, that does good quality work and works on everything from turbos that fit in the palm of your hand to turbos that are literally (I have seen one...) The size of your car.

Today I woke up late, 10:30 or so, went downstairs...had breakfast found out my dad would be gone all day, Called RS Distributors in minooka (Anyone near chicago area should know this phone number (815) 467-9545.) Anyway, txted a bunch of people to see who was available and my friend Megan was thankfully looking for something to do, she came by around noon, picked me up, dropped the turbo off at 12:40, had lunch, went back at 1:40 and picked up my turbo, which got a new compressor wheel, and a rebalance. $86.71 well spent and Im back out the door...happy as a clam. Hung out with my awesome friend Megan for another hour or so, then got to work, turbo went back on all the intercooler, pipes and etc, were flushed well, and she runs again by 5 o clock this evening.

Pic's of why you should never trust chrysler intake tubes...

Blurry but more rubber on bottom right of that exducer....

Not a shadow on the tip of the blade on the right...thats rubber...

Fin on left is well bent upwards...likely from dragging a piece of rubber around... Fin on right slightly bent down

What I found in the intercooler...

Moral of the story, catch screens are your friend even when the intake is installed properly and ALWAYS use regular fittings...slip fit is never good enough when its in front of a turbo...
