bravada fuel pump

Ok, I just changed out my wifes fuel pump on her 01 olds bravada. i was woundeing if its also the same as the blazer pump? Would it be stupid to put this in my cav with no boost or any other upgrades? Or would it kill them pump. yes I have to put a new pump into the old one but i was just wondering if it would kill the new pump or be better than the old stock one in my car now. Ive got a 96 cav with the 2.2 (not the 2200) short ram intake and no muffler. Ive looked thru the boost forum and the performance forum and no answers or i just missed them.besides it doesnt hurt to ask a question.thanks for any good comments.

IIRC, the pump used in the S-trucks with the 4.3L V-6 is of a higher volume than the ones used for the LN2 (2.2L/2200) equipt models (I could be wrong...). Installing it will only increase the amount of fuel fed into the system, which if all that is left stock may increase the amount of pressure in it if the fuel-pressure regulator is overwelmed, only then resulting in a need for tuning. Or at least an adjustable FPR.

Either way, in theory the increased volume delivery should help the the fuel rail recover more quickly from any purging it sees from the injectors firing, resulting in less drop in the fluctuations it will see & a more equalized output from the injectors as they fire.

Still, there is the matter of if the pump in-hand consumes more wattage than the one installed, and if that's so then there will be a need to increase the gauge of the wires feeding power to it for safety reasons. A check of the wiring diagrams in the service manuals should tell you if it is. It's typically listed in metric, so the bigger the number the heavier the wire. Unless it says the size in a number without a decimal point, then it's the gauge size where the smaller the number the larger it is.

My best advice is to visit a site where the common interest is in S-trucks, like s10planet.com (Note:<-That is not a link! Sorry...), where you'll get all the help you will need to determine if the installation of the S-truck 4.3L pump is a good idea or not.

Go beyond the "bolt-on".

if you dont have any supporting mods, you will get more trouble than power. This mainly because you have to modify the fuel cup the pump goes into, which can lead to fuel cut problems, especially if not done properly.

i changed the hole unit out. i was just checking to see if it would be beneficial to put a higher flowing pump in. Ill just wait to get some forced induction, then put it in if i can change just the pump out. thanks for the help so I don't ruin anything.
