Alternator Pulley
Thursday, July 10, 2008 9:46 AM
Ive got the LD9 and got the alternator pulley from the GP. How do I get the pulley off while the engine is still on the car? There is little room for the ratchet and there is no way of putting something in the pulley to jam it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks a million

Try lowering the engine a bit (take off the motor mounts and use a jack) also an impact really helps getting the bolt off without it spinning

or you could leave the belt on to give it pressure, instead of jamming something in it....

break it loose with the belt in place, then remove belt, and finish undoing pulley, unless you have it on to tight...

Why are you taking it off?

T-55 or T-50 torx bit, and an open ended or closed ended wrench works fine for me.
Leave the alternator on the motor or take it off. Its up to you.
HHR alternator....

I tried with the belt on and the belt just flexed. Can you take off the alternator without removing the intake manifold?

^^ If you are plastic man or Mr. Fantastic.

You have to take the intake off.
Esp if you did the H.o. mani swap.

I STILL have yet to mine on.
