97 2.2 OHV swap to a LSJ Supercharged

I know this question has been asked a couple of times around the site but I want to hear what everyone has to say in my case. I just blew my 2.2 OHV for the second time. To tell you the truth its a crappy engine to even consider putting in another one. I didn't miss treat my second one nor did i do any mods. It just gave up on me one block from my house. It died out and when i turned it on it was knocking. It didn't even have any force anymore as i had to push the pedal all the way down just to get it up to 20 mph. Now my question is wat i can put in it. I would like to have the LSJ in it but what all do i need??? I was lookiing in to getting a 2.4 but that is even more expensive than the lsj around here. If i get it from the nearest junkyard i know ima have to put new internals in it. So right now i can either just put something in my car and get it running or i can just simply have it picked up and taken to the nearest junk yard. Advise?

Canit be done...yes.....will it...no...

Search around its asked a few times a month and always the same awnser..

Look into either a eco swap or 2.4 or use te current motor.....the awnsers are all over this forum

well i have looked around but no one seems to give a direct answer just speculation. I might even try to be the first one to do it.

if you've blown two motors then there was obviously something wrong, either they wre defective when you bought them or just no maintenance was conducted on them and cause catastrophic failure. I have over 155k on my LN2 and im still putting nitrous through it and its taking it like a champ! What i suggest is that you find a junkyard motor cheap and just get your car running, then once that is done you should just take your old one and build it up. If your head and block are salvageable then do a good build on it from the ground up!
Here is a good 2200 build that you might wanna take a look at if interested.

You could swap in a 60 degree V6 (3100, 3400, 3500) - it should bolt to your trans and I think you can use N-body mounts. You just have to worry about wiring.

An eco swap is harder on pre-00 cars, due to trans mounts i believe. PJ(DaFlySkwirl) is currently finishing up swapping a LSJ bottom end into his cavy, but he is using the L61 head. He is using a stand alone to run it.

I would say either build the LN2, they are very good engines and will last a while if proper maintained. Or swap in a 60 degree V-6. So far havent heard anyone regretting that swap.

Think of the LN2 as a Truck/Van Small-block Chevy V-8 that displaces 305ci. If you maintain it properly (Like you should with any engine) it will last seemingly forever even if you mos it lightly & beat on it somewhat.

Go beyond the "bolt-on".

SEARCH geez....even attempt it....if i was you read about it..you ll need tranny, engine, engine wire harness and i think thats it...but your putting in a much less relaible engine..and since youve killed 2 2.2's id shy away from doing it. Maybe throw in a updated 2200 ..or change your oil

Which 2.4 are you talking about? LD9? or Ecotec? I also agree the 2.2 OHV/2200 motors are good daily driver motors if taking care of.
The reason you can't get a real answer on putting the LSJ in your car is no one has done it yet. There is lots of things that need to be worked out. Going stand alone ECU is the best option if doing that, but still you could run into other issues. This is not a swap for someone with a daily driver in mind, more of a project/race car.

I already search this damn board all night long. All the topics have been delete. All people talk about now are the ECOs. I searched for two nights before i posted this. I was just trying to get feed back from people who have actually done it. And the 2.2 reliable??? maybe the updated 2200 but not the sorry pos that i have. I didn't even abuse the engine i had and it was brand new when i got it. I changed the oil every 3000 miles. I had just gotten a DSM so i had my cavi parked for a few days. I decided to pull it out of the garage and put gas. On the way back the damn car died on me. I think the 2.4L is pretty much more reliable at this point. besides i plan to build the Twin cam. I already have a daily driver.

I talking about the LD9. I am not talking about a daily driver anymore. Because I got another car for that. I just got it. I have been looking around for a LD9 swap but i have only gotten this so far.

2.4 engine(duh)
Engine mount lower cradle
transmission
transmission mount
2.4 upper and lower radiator hoses
96-99 wiring harness.
Passenger side axle, you can use your drivers side axle from your 2.2
Guage cluster that has a Tach on it

now my car is a 97 2.2 with a auto tranny. I was hoping to make it standard. Now if anyone call tell me if this is right.
