Exhaust Temperature
Saturday, February 23, 2008 11:17 AM
Hey I wasn't sure where to post this so I'll just ask it here. I know there are probably several factors that affect this but around what range is the temperature of the actual exhaust pipe from the catback and the tip? Like if someone could ballpark it for me that would be awesome, thanks!

Well gasoline ignites at close to 500 degrees so id say 400 or so.

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.

It seems like he's asking the temp of the pipe after the cat. It would be much lower than that. I don't know myself how hot, but ahead of the cat when you paint your exhuast you need to use engine paint, but behind it, the regular spraypaint doesn't burn, so it can't be too hot.

Well the tip will still burn the hell out of you, so its gotta be close to 200 F.

Nah that answered my question, not to mention I don't have a temp gun. I was just wondering if it was under 300, thanks guys.
