I've seen it done 1 time on an ecotec, and that car is still running fine w/o any problems, I wouldn't suggest it, but I'd say maybe.

why would you need to take the head off to replace a lifter anyway?
Since when can you not reuse a cometic head gasket?

People re-use Cometics all the time, try using some copper gasket spray if you are having coolant leaks.

I have reused mine now once and I haven't had any issues. There tech guys say that there is no problem in reusing them, I have also heard from others (mainly Honda owners) who say that you can't reuse them without problems. If you are uncomfortable with reusing it then spend the hundred bucks and get a new one.

It seems the guys who have problems are the ones who have open decks... idk maybe just a coincidence.
UHH, YES you can re-use this gasket, Ive done it once and known other people who have as well.

In regards to this.... I would not reuse it if it has TONS of miles on it. At that point you might as well replace it.
I reused my gasket just recently when i put the cams and ported head on as well as put ARP headstuds in.
^^Your right, I only have 1900 miles on my engine.. 1500 when I crashed my valves. Thats why I figured it was ok, didnt think about milage..

i was told you could then you cant but i thiught you could . the engine has less than 6000 miles on it so im going to try it . its not like its all that bad to replace if i have problems later . thanks
