Alright here it goes, I have seen many people mention using Neon 4 post coils instead of 2.2 coils on the 2.4.

The wires actually dont meet it is just to show, but I have the "A" plug from the 2.4 ICM feeding the positive side of the coil and "B" & "C" sides for trigger wires to the coil with cylinder pairing of 1-4/ 2-3. Seems to be simple enough? But when it cranks, it will run for about 1 second and then it acts like it fires out of sequence and tries to reverse the crankshaft rotation thus killing the motor dead in its tracks. Now I just found out the ICM has to be grounded so it needs to be done, but does any one have an idea on why this acts this way? Thanks again.
make sure you have the icm grounded like you mentioned, grounds are always a good thing to have. post up an update from there
I have been having a rough time finding a 100% definate pinout of the Neon coils but I was provided with one last night which is from a Dodge service manual and according to it I have to rewire the whole set up. The diagram above isnt a pinout i have since learned so that maybe my porblem, along with grounding the ICM. I shall probably get another chance this weekend.
but you do have a diagram you can use? if not let me know, i have access to alldata.
Yes please any and all help is appreciated, thanks again man.
what year/engine did the coils come off(neon) and i will see what i can find?
In the 18 or so months that I managed an Autozone I sold way more replacement neon coils than I did 2.2 coil packs and icms.
ok? are you trying to say they are more peices of @!#$?
95-99 coils but they are flat blades and came with the pigtail. borg warner e201
i am going out the door, just saw this. i will dig into it tonight, if i am sober enough, otherwise tommarow after class for you
Its alive!!!!!! Wriet up coming soon.
oh really.... so what all you have in this besides the pigtail, and the coil setup?

Neon coils are mounted on the valve cover in a high heat location just like our 2.4 coils are so that may have been an issue, maybe.
What I have in it? $95, including all new wire set, ignition coil, and pigtail. I wished I could have found an MSD coil in time but my 2.4 coil went out on the way home last night and I had to have it running by this morning. Borg warner coils, and Omni-spark 96 2.2 wires, will be upgrading in the future but it runs!
Just got to get some black tape to make it look better and not the bright blue.
so your running the stock icm(ld9) and then just running the pigtail to the new coils? i thought there was more to the swap then that. maybe i am just ignorant. its very possible
Its possible, proof is sitting out in my driveway. Runs great, too bad its been wet outside all day, cant really lean into it on wet streets. Here soon, maybe tonight, I will do a write up on how to wire it in. I just really want to see if it last before I tell anybody to go out and do it.
well @!#$ keep us pposted!
Well do ya'll want me to put the write up in this post or start it on a new one. The write up is done.
