I am looking at a set of clevite pistons .020 bore for my build on my 97 ld9. i was wondering if any one has used these or know's if they are quality product, any help or input will be great....
clevite pistons would basically be a stock replacement in an OB size or even stock size.
YES, clevite makes some damn fine bearings....but pistons I would trust to Weisco
Clevite: so quality I buy six time!

Clevite does not make performance high strength piston it depends on what your planing to do with them Boost or N/A.
Clevite Is mainly a stock or close to stock replacement.
I can bet if you go into NAPA parts store and ask for a set of stock replacement pistons in an OB size or stock size the give you a set of (Clevite) pistons.
hey your guy's awnsered my ?'s thanx weisco it is,, one more ?.... i have about 124,xxx on my engnine know, can i just go with stock bore, or it woulf=d depend on what the cylinders look like???
all depends on what condition the block is in whenever you tear into it, then again you could always sleeve the motor which i havent seen done in a J and run stock pistons.
ok thats what i thought ...but if i was to sleeve it wouldnt i need to bore it a lil and then the sleeves inner diam. would be 90mm? and does any of you guys know were i can get a set of sleeves for a ld9?
yeah they bore it over the drop the sleeve in then bore it to size. Not sure on where to get a sleeve.
Just get OB pistons much easier and shop charge like $50 to bore all four i thing it was like $15 or $20 a cyl for mine nothing crazy.
The machine shop should be able to get the sleeves if necessary....

find a reputable place to get your engine done, ask around the shops in your area and i can guarantee you that most of the old timers will recommend one specific shop! As far as finding sleeves for the ld9, i don't think ive seen them but im pretty sure there is a manufacturer out there that can make a good set. Just do as Paul Tjepkes said and get OB pistons and put them in your block, a whole lot easier and cheaper then trying to sleeve the block.
hey thanx to all of you, u all have been a big help i apprciate your time.not really new to the j-body seen but this is my first ld9 build, so i thank all of your for your time....

down here they harge $10.00 a hole plus cleaning. You should have them see if they need to deck the block while their at it your going to put a lot of work into this. Don't skimp out.
