Ok, here it goes.. I had to go in to fix either a waterpump or timing related sound and i figure since i am in here might as well do the secret cam swap... Ok , we timed it, double and triple checked, rotated the aseembly by hand 5 crank revolutions and confirmed timing..... It is dead nuts on, i don't believe it is my problem. but it idles like it is miss firing, now the guy helping me did mess up the springs in the coils boots, so i believe that maybe that problem but won't know until the parts store opens in the morning. Now the one really concerning me, I makes a random rattle about every 5-6 seconds and seems to be coming from the waterpump/thermostat area, we are missing a exhaust manifold nut is it possible that nut could have fallen under the thermostat, since I changed i, and either vibration or water movement causing that bolt to rattle, if so is there a way to get the thermostat out without having to pull all the timing components out again.
Thanks, and sorry for any grammer or spelling mistakes, we were at it for almost 16 hours and i am very out of it.
There are two or three bolts connecting the black "L-shaped" thermostat housing and the waterpump housing. To get to them though, the exhaust manifold will most likely need to be removed. Then there is one more bolt connecting the thermostat housing to the oil pan. Remove those and you should be able to maneuver the L-shaped thermostat housing enough to remove the thermostat. Otherwise, to completely remove the housing from the car, you'd have to remove the coolant hose from the thermostat housing and because you have an auto, the passenger side engine to trans mount/bracket as well.
Also, did you make sure to extend the timing chain tensioner after you reinstalled it?

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.
Thanks man, if it comes down to it that is sure a help, the only other thing i can think of is that same nut fell down the exhaust downpipe against the cat converter.
Yeah man, it was the springs causing it to misfire bad and making it rattle, all better now.
how much of a difference did u notice with the cam swap, and where did u purchase it?
Been easy on the car right now so until I hit WOT I can't tell you anything but don't worry I shall hit it in a few days.
Glad you got it going man.
I'm also waiting for the results of the cam swap.

Happy New Year man.
