I don't want to be a part of this altercation but what I have to say is this. To take ANY car NA and shave a FULL second off in 400 M is quite an achivement on such a small budget. It would be a different ball game if the car (ANY CAR) would be a trailer bitch (race only car).

Wow...this turned into a pissing contest faster than usual...

skwirl ran a NA 14 flat with a full interior as well...When you make a NA j-body 4 cylinder run even close to that...you let us know.

...and let me correct your post.

Alright, I wasn't going to get involved... but now this is getting ridiculous.... First off, Sunfire 2.2, who the hell are YOU, and what have YOU yourself accomplished so far as the J-body community is concerned? I give respect to anyone on here regardless of status, up until the point where they say something which forfeits that respect, but if you're going to criticize one of the pioneers of ecotec NA performance (at least as far as this forum and platform are concerned) then you really should be packing some accomplishments of your own, something more than your e-thugging skills.

Yeah, PJ dumped a crapload of money into that car to get it to a 14.00 in the 1/4. However, a lot of that money was spent on testing different setups and parts to try and find the best combination to accomplish the goal he set for himself, which was 13's all motor. If you tallied up the mods that are currently still ON the car, I am fairly certain they would total up to less overall than most people on here with boosted setups (some of which are still running slower). As for that money lost in testing? Well, name of the game. When you're one of the first people to go a certain route, you run into pitfalls and mysteries that more often than not result in wasted money. Ask the first eco turbo guys, especially those with 03-up cars, what kind of crap they all had to go through working out fueling before it was realized that an ECU calibration change in mid-03 didn't engage power enrichment until right about 5300 ish rpm or more. I know specifically of one 04 eco cavalier owner that turboed his car and went through 3 different fueling setups trying to get it to work (before HPT was available) before finally settling on standalone. And while he did that, there were more than a few people who knew of the problem, but kept it to themselves and thus few people had any way to know of it beforehand.

But because of people like PJ, and Ben, and Owen, everyone else on here knows a whole hell of a lot more about what NA mods DO and DON'T work and can save some of their own hard-earned cash. And do you know why? Because PJ doesn't hide his successes OR failures. I know plenty of people on here who would have (or already have) seriously f-ed up their car doing something stupid and this forum never heard a word about it. I'm not going to sit here and say that PJ's infallible, he did something pretty dumb by racing without taking the time to tune properly, and I have argued with him several times on this same topic beforehand and it just now got to biting him in the butt. But the difference between the average .Org poster, and PJ, is that he came right out and said what happened, and likewise, he has the money and the knowledge to fix it. Its not like he blew the motor after spending every dime he has on it, and now is screwed with no way to get to work or do anything else. He's not sitting here crying that the motor is broken (moreso he wears it as a sick badge of honor if you ask me). He broke something and has the money and other resources to fix it. So I don't get where the trash talk is coming from. He might be cocky at times, but anyone who's ever asked him for advice or help has gotten it. And frankly, he has some accomplishments to back it up. Lets see where all the other J-bodies are that are running 14.00 or faster ALL MOTOR. Its a pretty exclusive club last I checked. Less than a dozen if i'm not mistaken, and several of those cars are gutted to what can only be described as full-race status whereas the Skwirl is unarguably a street car with a road-going suspension, street tires, and a full interior. So really, I don't see what you have to be bitching about.

not at all. this is the manifold from a 2.4 liter ecotec mounted on a 2.2

they dubbed it the 'ecotec high output manifold'

I'm not sure if it really is off an LE5 tho... it does look a bit different on the outside

just for the record i think my only setback now are my cams. once I upgrade those, the car should be pulling high 13s even on a crappy day. and maybe into mid 13s during cooler weather

i am trying to get my hands on another 3rd gen 2000+ candidate for an all motor 13-second build which will have a factory bottom end (other than remove balance shafts). its very possible for about $3000 in mods (which is less than the GMPP s/c kit and a turbo kit)

I love how everyone is saying that im flaming DaFlyin14secondswkirl. All I did was share in his misfortune by having a laugh. I only did this because his enormous ego was going on and on about smoking all these cars with his indestructable N/A jbody a few months back.

And so what happens. mr bigheaded jbody owner tries to call me out like he is the fastest car on earth. If you really think you can beat me by 10 cars you really need a reality check, but I will gladly take $5000 from you, unless you need that to fix another engine in 6 months

Why do you keep refering to his car being "slow"? If pj was trying to build the fastest car in the world he wouldnt have got a daily driver, street driven, n/a cavalier. What we are trying to explain to you is that for what it is, it is fast. Obviously there are many faster boosted j's and other cars that are much faster but he isnt even saying he's faster than every other car out there. I bet you couldnt pull the times he does with the exact same car.

And you were laughing because you said you told him he was gona break or something? Thats what happens when you have a modified car that gets pushed hard. Why do you think an intake alone voids many warranties?

Sorry I like jumping in on things

Last I checked... People on here practically beg for the videos that me and PJ produce. They want to see what his car can do, and unlike people like... hmmm... YOU... he posts actual undisputable proof of what his car can do instead of talking sh1t without backing it up. What i find funny is you call PJ pathetic for posting vids of his car on a forum and taking pride in what he's accomplished but apparently don't realize how pathetic it is that over 50% of your posts on this forum in the last month, have been solely to sling crap in this thread. I also noticed...his claim that PJ's engine would dump before 13's is also suspect...PJ has admitted that any damage is due to his not tuning the car proper after the last mods. Which means that the engine didnt give under the power its making. SO....im gonna venture to say all things considered properly tuned that may have been a 13 second run (maybe just barely, but it may have been) AND the engine would have held just fine....

^^ I have not doubt... without the massive ignition advance and lean condition, there never would have been a problem. If PJ had simply been patient enough to take the time to finish tuning before hitting the track the motor would still be running perfectly fine. I'm frankly amazed that the stock bottom end has been spinning up to almost 8K rpm for so long and hasn't managed to spin a rod bearing or snap/stretch a rod, but its taken everything that was thrown at it with the exception of a rush to hit the track.

And so what happens. mr bigheaded jbody owner tries to call me out like he is the fastest car on earth. If you really think you can beat me by 10 cars you really need a reality check, but I will gladly take $5000 from you, unless you need that to fix another engine in 6 months

lol give it a rest will you.. why are you so butt-hurt?

where's the videos of your car if its so fast anyway? I'm curious to see what I'm up against for our $5000 race

must be pretty insane if you're willing to throw that down i mean... I don't think being behind a computer, or a registry that doesn't even list your email address has anything to do with your boldness.

in fact I'm willing to bet you've never even held $5000 in your hand at one time before.

drop it kid.. let it go there's no point in arguing anymore it makes everyone look like an idiot.
you hate me cuz I dissed you and your crew or something... oh well get over it.

life goes on.. and if this keeps up I smell a thread lock and a ban

haha Sorry but I dont need to brag over the internet posting videos on every website known to man, only to get laughed at. My car is what it is. yes it is a lot faster than yours and anyone else who has posted in this thread.

I have never held $5000 in my hand because Im smart enough to keep it in either my bank account earning interest or in my investments earning capital gains or interest. I didnt decide to dump money into a pit to try to impress a website because I need friends.

And apparently you cant read. This isnt about dissing at all. Its about me being right about your engine taking a @!#$ before you reach 13's

WE GOING TO RACE OR WHAT?

Chris

bahahahaha I seriously hope you are joking. You got $5K or are you still paying off your car? Maybe ask mommy and daddy if you can borrow some cash.

I'll back chris up.....his car has nothing to do with his mommy or daddy...and judging by how many miles are on his car...its likely paid off. oh...and even with all those miles....he did qualify 2nd at the bash in the quick 8 all out class. Pretty sure he's serious bud. put your money where your mouth is unless you only feel safe hiding behind a computer screen. whaddya say? CHICKEN?
