ecotec crank pulley install problems
Saturday, July 28, 2007 6:12 PM
I recently recivied a motor that would not spin due to the crank pulley. When I got it, I took a breaker bar and broke the nut loose. and removed it. then reinstalled the nut, and the crank spun free, also the oil pump flat spots spin freely in the front. when reinstalling the pulley its possiable to spin the pulley on just the oil pump but it eventually stops also if you attempt to just reinstall the pulley it tightens as it goes down. it feels like something is to big on the pulley, but I know the pulley is good?

it is, every thing looks like its where it should be, no the pulley looks a bit torn up, but the in side, crank and pulley assebly looks great.

I couldnt sleep last night, and I started thinking that mabye it is the timing cover, can it be installed off so the pulley wouldnt line up right?

Ill no for sure monday.

I got most of the bolts off this morning, but realissed that I didnt have the 10mm wrench needed to get the timing cover off. I went out and bought a sweet rachet wrench, and will be finishing dissasebly of the oil pump and cover tommorw.

I know the problem sounds complicated, but thats just becuase the problem is still unknown. can not fully instal the crank pulley, due to the fact that it binds, as soon as you install the pulley any farther the the flat spot oil pump.

I will have pics tonight I promise
