1/8 mile performance tips

I am in So Calif and the 2 local tracks only have 1/8 mile racing. So what performance tips (upgrades/modifications) do you recommend for this length of racing? I am talking more then header and exhaust. Most upgrades help top end, but at this short of distance, I will not reach top end.

NOS and TURBO

i'm gonna have to dissagree with you on the turbo. Even with the NOS the turbo will still need to spool up so he's not getting the most from the engine. Supercharger and NOS would be more effective since you will always be running boost, and always have the power at hand. WOT pulls will be more responsive. Tear everything out of your interior you don't need, get rid of car jack. spare tire. anything heavy. if you want to get more indepth, tear apart your motor and rebuild it with forged internals so you can run higher amounts of boost with little to no problems. HPTuners or dyno tunes will be needed. GMSupercharger re-flash is possible but you can't fakes a 3 bar map or change any values.

a turbo can be selected/ tuned for response at the expense of peak high-end hp. so, I would say that a turbo is better, since it has no parasitic drain, but really, that is a subject for the boost forums...
otherwise, tires. you want to get off the line with little-to-no wheelspin, so traction is important. many people don't recognize the difference a good set of tires can make. and lose the heavy seventeens. the less rotating mass you have, the less you have to move, the quicker your car will be. (yeah, it's a style thing, but on the track, who cares about style? do you want a show car or a race car? if you want both, it'll cost you...lots$$)
what kind of suspension do you have? if you have any adjustabiliy built-in to your suspension, you may be able to dial it in more for a drag launch... check the "suspension and brake" forums.
How's your driving? how you drive the car makes a huge difference, so find some place to practice launching (I like stoplights...lol) and try speed shifting: shift w/o lifting off the gas (bad for your tranny, but can make a difference for the better on the track)

a small t3 would work great. lots of low end power. they will be spooled instantly depending on the size.

I want to share something with you - the three sentences that will get you through life. Number one, 'cover for me', Number two, 'oh, good idea, boss', Number three, 'it was like that when I got here.'

How do you figure you won't reach "top end?" Top end isn't referring to the top end of your speedometer, but rather to the top end of the tach...and I don't see how you're going to go balls out for ~10 seconds and not reach redline in at least 2 gears. If it's a turbo and hasn't spooled up completely by the top of 2nd, it's not going to spool up by the top of 3rd or 4th really either (sure, response will differ somewhat based on gearing and all but in general...). Whatever mods you would usually go with for the best power would be the best mods to go with here - meaning it's pretty much a decision between NA, nitrous, turbo, or supercharger. Pick one (or two, maybe) and go with it...
