okay so this morning i go to start my car and it starts fine just idles all weird like something is being restrictive some where. so when i got home from work today i let it sit at idle for a while just to see if it was just because of the cold. after about five min i start to smell this really nasty stench, smells just like rotten eggs so i go check the muffler and sure enough its coming from the exhaust. my buddy told me it was the cat but i just wanted to be sure before i go out and buy a new one.
and also whats the inlet and outlet diameter as well as length of the stock cat
dont buy a new one just run a test pipe and install your o2 in the test pipe, read the thread about the $5 mod it's good info

you could
NOT commit a federal offense by simply replacing the cat with a magnaflow one. magnaflow part #94035.

okay so
rotten egg smell from exhaust = dead cat???
and i would be a cat not a test pipe. like to keep things legal
well yours wasnt as bad as mine. My IDI cover went bad and was dumping fuel like crazy. plugged my cat up ands had not form of exhaust what so ever coming out of my exhaust pipes. It was all coming out of my gasket down at the end of the manifold. Thats where all my exhaust was going. so basically i cut my cat off tipped it up on end and the chunks of platinum were pouring out some wouldnt come oout due to the size of the chunk. but there was still a lot of crap was coming out. So basically i have a VERY VERY VERY free flowing exhaust system now.

I do, and you sir are a bag of douche. besides. it's not like we're running massive boost that we need that test pipe anyways.
And I'm annoyed by jackasses like you. so what does that make you?
so turns out it wasn't the cat at all but a voltage spike somewhere cause the ignition module and the coil to go tits up. misfire on cylinders 2 and 3. and running it like that for the short period of time that i did with fuel pouring into the cat. it died. so now with new coil, new module and new cat (magnaflow ftw) she should be back up and running tomorrow.
i appreciate all the advice and help.
