I've been doing my research attempting to avoid this post but I need to. Since my motor developed a knock I've been researching what I can about rebuilds but I am still clueless. I want to rebuild my LD9, definately replace the bottom end since that is what's currently wrong, swap to the secret cams and replace everything that goes with that and I've been told a 2.3 oil pump would be a good choice while I'm rebuilding. I just don't know what exactly, or where even, to get stuff. Pistons? Should I keep stock or go with a different size? I don't know, CRs confuse me. What about rods, etc? With full time college and all this training for my new job the research I'm doing for my car isn't sinking in and I'm lost and, obviously, the build is going nowhere.
As for the actual rebuild, my father is a mechanic and he will be helping me out but he doesn't know anything about performance parts so he is of no help in that area so I'm asking you guys for some help 'cause I want my car to be back in good shape.

so far what I have gather in my mind is.... 2.3 oil pump swap, .020 overbore, wiesco forged pistons, eagle forged rods, cosmetic head gasket, 086 head, H.O intake manifold, H.O throttle body, secret cams.... ect. Im not sure what compression pistons and gasket thickness to with the 086 head to have low compression for boost later.

you cant use the cometic gasket with the 086 head as you need a 2.3l gasket with that head.
my poistons are 9:1 and with the 086, it gets to 10.5:1. i just asked karo and told him what i wanted and he got them for me.... might wanna give him a call.
