my engine blew... i need to find a new one... i've found an SRT-4 motor..... will it work in my car??? how much am i lookin to spend????
we dont know. never been done. do it, and tell us. take pictures. cost wise, im willing to bet (literally) you could buy yourself four runnig eco cavaliers for less than the cost to get an srt4 engine working properly in one of our cars.

Debatable amongst many members.

fit= more likley yeah. work= probaly not
to do something like this you need 3 things
money
time
knowledge
for the money you spend on this kind of a swap, you could afford 3 or 4 dodge peons and then some

alright thats all i needed to hear.... so what would be a good swap??? or should i just purchase another ecotec??? and its a cavi not a sunflower!! and if anyone yall know is sellin an engine let me know......
Stick with the Eco. Cav...Sunflower...all the same.
Check the classifieds for anyone selling.
Any motor can be put into any engine, its called...standalone and some fab work. Can you do it, doubt it. If you could do it, you wouldnt be asking. I would be happy to be proved wrong tho, it would be interesting. As far as the engine debate goes. I am a diehard twin cam guy, but the eco is a very nice platform. They seem to be holding up very well, I havent heard of anyone having to replace one due to high miles yet, never hear of anybody having to replace one due to spun bearings or anything of the like, which is very frustrating wiht the quads. Only issue with the eco is the somewhat weak bottom ends compared to the twin cam I personally think. People are breaking ringlands on the pistons with generally mild boost, nothing too serious. If you are looking for a motor build, I would say, get yourself an eco, less headaches and less worries. Put a built bottom end in an eco, and your good for a lot of power. *Disclaimer* I am not siding with the eco here, I am still a quad fanatic, I just think the eco would be better in this guys case!
stick with the ecotec

Haha, this is true. I'd like to see the Bugatti's in the Cav's.
I would personally think the 2.2 ecotec is a better design than the srt-4, the rod ratio is awful on the 2.4. I understand people put down so serious HP with them.
If you were serious about doing it, simply measure up a neon engine bay, and see where all the mounts are (you need to change 1 mount to fit the 2.4 neon into the 2.0 DOHC neon engine bay) so measure @!#$ up, grab the mounts, and bolt it in (with some fabbing and welding) then run an EMS. Not taking driveline into account, it would be a fun project that no one has done.
Cost wise an eco with some rods and pistons would be a really good setup too.
HP Tuners | Garrett T3/T04B | 2.5" Charge Pipes | 2.5" Downpipe | 650 Injectors | HO Manifold | Addco front/rear | Motor Mounts | HKS SSQV | Spec stage 3 | AEM UEGO Wideband | Team Green LSD | FMIC | 2.3 cams | 2.3 oil pump swap | 280WHP | Now ECOTECED
well, idk where they are and what happened to them, but a couple years back i remember seeing pics of a beretta with a 4G63 mitsu motor installed and RUNNING in it! (for those who dont know, its the engine that came in the GST and GSX eclipses...and TURBO)

where'd you find your intake system??? i've been looking for the one you have that replaces the stock air box......
if you can't find an intake for your eco then I'm gonna have to say you aren't gonna be able to get an srt-4 engine into your J and/or get it to run.
you need to
a: buy a new eco
b: have someone that knows what they're doing put it in, and
c: don't be so hard on your new eco.

lol i've foumd numerous intakes but not one that replaces my stock airbox........

most intake i ever seen are connected to the TB and end behind the battery where the air filter would go in the stock air box. or they go into the fender for a "Cold Air" effect. of course you have to take out the air box on both counts

Simply put, if you're asking this question, don't attempt it.
