YEAH!! Wow Im so flattered you have already discovered the same things that I did when I did my first Vtec swap 3 months ago!!!!!!

Thats why we swapped out the cam gears and believe it or not the head bolts right up even though it doesn't appear too at first, we just had to make a custom head gasket adapter.

Brian Whalen wrote:Yes and which gears are you planning on using. Ecotec chain driven gears or V-tec belt driven. Either way, I can't believe I went through the effort to do this, but there are plenty of noobs that read these posts and get false senses of security in doing radical swaps like you are proposing, and eventually repeat it as truth in other posts...Take a look at the head differences...

Dude don't even bother, some people are so simple minded, they will sit there and bash you left and right even when you give them the proof on a plate right in front of them, people just want to be ignorant and not admit that Vtec is better, well i say fine whatever, just don't come asking for the trade secrets to the Eco Vtec swap when you decide to do it.

You show me a picture of your motor (clearly identifying it as a honda vtec head on a gm ecotec block)and I will gladly retract any of my previous statements...provided it doesn't look like a hack job with the crank case open to unfiltered air.

A swap like that (if it did exist) would be one that a person would have alot of pictures of it to prove that it was done and if it was brought up in a discussion like this would be slammed on the table quicker than #$@#!!!!

It really wasn't the head bolting up that I am concerned with, but how do you know how to discern between water and oil jackets. Most of them don't even line up, so you would need to do porting like the 086 head swap requires. Even if it does bolt up, there might be water holes in the head lining up with oil one in the block filling the crank case up with antifreeze, so you would need to know which ones need to be plugged, and if you did that, the motor doesn't get evenly cooled and will crack over time.

You didn't answer my question comprehensibly either...which gears did you swap out ECO or V-tec. Swapping out the gears could mean that they are V-tec gears because they weren't originally on the motor, and it could also mean that the ECO gears where swapped to fit the head (to me at least). I sure hope it was the V-tec becuase a timing chain needs to stay lubricated which can't happen if you use the V-tec head.

One picture is all I ask

Also,
Viper --> V10
Hemi ---> V8

Happy Thanksgiving ALL

I am serious, because as I stated before, I am looking out for the well being of all the new guys/gals that read this and start threads about "how do I get a GSR head on my ECO" or "V-tec head on ECO." I don't know a great deal about the ECO, but I want anyone reading this to be absolutely clear whether or not the V-tec head would fit to an ECO. I thought BlackEco was joking all the way through page 2, but his persistance to drag it on has me wondering. In the event that everything lines up, then yes a swap like this is plausible, and I personally would love to see someone who has made the effort to get it to work.

Won't someone please think of the noobs!!!

if the noobs cant pick up on the fact that its a joke then i dont think they know the differance between drive shaft and camshaft.
