it's reduculously easy. Well, at least where I got mine. I walked in, walked to the oldsmobile area. and there were about 10-15 achievas and of those achievas... about 6 or 7 had the HO manifold style. Just take the manifold and the TB. I'm happy with the entire setup personally.

I am planning on doing this swap myself very shortly and I was wondering about the throttle cable bracket specifically as far as instructions. I will be using the adapter flange by Chris and my RSM 62mm TB. Do I use my stock throttle cable bracket and if so how do I mount it to the 2.3L intake manifold? Any pics that could assist me?

Thanks,

J

If you use your 2.4 62MM TB you have to use your 2.4 throttle cable bracket.. Ill provide the link on how to mate the 2.4 TB to the 2.3 Intake mani..

Ok guys need a little help. My oil/air line that in run to the back of my LO intake manifold seems to be sucking oil into the intake manifold at RPMS over 4500. Should I plug the vacuum port on the intake manifold and put a breather on the vacuum line? I hope that made sense. Or do I need to replace my oil/air seperator thing??? Never had this problem before the swap? I will post pictures of my swap later tonight.

please tell me you DIDNT put the air/oil seperator breather INTO the intake manifold? If your going to run it, you need to put it BEFORE the throttle body...... in the tube leading into the t/b....... just like stock.

If you have it hooked into the intake manifold, your applying vacuum to the engine block...... a whole lot of it....... no wonder your burning oil.....

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that the breather connection in the upper left just below the runners?? That looks to be the stock location to me...

that might be the stock setup for the 2.3, but on the 2.4 its before the TB like SpeedRacerZ said.

What is the sensor that is on the front of all 2.3 manifolds. IAT sensor for the 2.3 is what I am guessing. I have one of these, and I will probably put a pipe plug into it, then grind down the top part of the plug and fill in the gap with some jb weld and smooth it all down.

yea, its an IAT sensor....i just used the stock sensor in my s-tube...anyone get any better results using that one?

that one is not used as a sensor its used as a plug for that hole i just used a threaded piece of metal my step dad had machined for something else but had and extra so he gave it to me

you may or may not want to do that. The adapter for the EGR that i am still working on will use that hole to feed the EGR gas into the intake manifold. and since it looks like you have a 96 you might want to leave that open for the future.

I knew it was something different but wasnt exactly sure what they called it, so I went with the safe bet that 95% of the other people would still know what I was talking about Urweak, I am going to be swapping to a 97 pcm and engine harness here in a short while to run hpt, but until taht time I will put up with the check engine light.

Hey SpdRcrZ, Is the clip for the IAT sensor on our car the same as the MAT sensor for the 2.3? I will use that instead then considering I am turbo and I wont need to drill a hole in the charge pipes...yay

Re: Post your HO manifold swap pictures
Friday, June 16, 2006 9:01 AM
the 2.3 MAT sensor uses a plug exactly like the Coolant Temp sensor (in fact, the sensors could be one in the same)...... I have 'Heard' that the LT1 or maybe the LS1 use a screw in 'Open Air' element sensor..... should be more responsive then the 2.3 sensor.

In either case, you can modify the stock IAT sensor plug to fit into the 2.3 MAT sensor, just need a razzor blade.

I was only playing about the MAT vs IAT thing

i know its been along time since anyone posted to this but i need help, so hopefully someone still looks at it......i just did the ho manifold swap and the secret cam swap at the same time. my engine idles horribly! i had the 2.3 tb and then i switched back to the 2.4 cause i wanted to make sure i had the vacuum hoses all hooked up right....i've noticed though that several people have the hoses connected in different places....i tried so many different ways of connecting all the lines but it still either idles at like 2000 rpm consistantly or idles at 900 and then fluctuates and nearly dies....
i didnt know if puttin in the secret cams affect this...its my guess as of now that they do because everyone says their engines idle perfectly, and i cant get mine to be constant.... please help

Re: Post your HO manifold swap pictures

cams wouldnt effect idle unless they are timed wrong.

sounds like the intake..... either you have a tempermental Vac leak, or its possible the TPS or IAC are messed up......

Just make sure you have the Evap Purge siliniod hooked up right (should be ran to the t/b, the larger of the 3 smaller ports..... the one closest to the filter side of the t/b)

Once you get a constant idle in the 900rpm range, you can raise the idle slightly by adjusting the Throttle Arm stop screw.
