Just a question...has anyone here CC'd the 2.2 and 2200 cylinder heads? I'm looking at a set of pistons, but I need to know what set to get. Any help would be great.

Anyway, to the OP, I don't have the specs on hand but I'm pretty sure that MadJack, OHV Notec, or SlowOleJ will have them... try pming them, since your thread title doesn't mention OHV they might not pay attention to it.

Sorry, I don't have that info. I only got the one motor that's in my car. OHV notec has a couple of motors he's wprking on. Hopfully, I should have an extra soon to do a more thorough work up of the fine details of the 2.2L.
I posted the CC for the 2.2 head several months ago. Maybe 53 or 58? I believe I posted in reference to Scarab's request for info for the 2200 build guide.

Yeah the newer 2200 has a diff comp ratio, and the cylinder head has a different shape...hmmm and what about this 1.8 double roller timing chain? I've heard some stuff, but no one responds....thanks again.
The double roller timing chain you're asking about was a one year only item. It came on the 1982 1.8L OHV motor. The instructions and Part numbers were originally published in the
Chevrolet Power Catalog 6th Edition, published in 1988.
Here's the link that TheFlyingSquirrel(PJ) posted previously to the 2.0L OHV Build up. The 2.2L & 2200 are newer versions of this motor. Some of this info is still applicable, while some is not. Most of the GM part numbers are no longer made, so you would have to find aftermarket equivalents.
Double roller....is there modifying to be done to the sprockets?
Alright, I have a 2200 head laying around, what's the easiest way to measure it, syringe & water?
Also, You can pretty much forget about the 1.8L double roller, I have the last tensioner on the face of this planet lol, and I think slow got the last guide. Someone mentioned using the stock guide/tensioner, but the double-roller sprockets are wider, so they may hold the chain too far out. My machine shop couldn't get the cam sprocket on the lathe to machine the mounting hole out, so it will be a little while longer before I have any results.
Right now I'm working on prepping my Audi for trade-in, taking out my overkill stereo and stuff, and stopping as many leaks as possible lol. Planning on picking up a fully-loaded '97 OHV to add to the crew

yeah, from what i've read (mind you i've never done it before), stretch some clear platic wrap over the chamber, nice and tight, then inject with an eyedropper or syringe (i'm assuming the eyedropper would be a good idea to have a graduated cylinder or something since counting each drop would be a bitch). Once its full, you know how much it takes. You'd need to do the same to the piston dish if you're trying to calculate/blueprint an exact compression ratio.

Cool, I'll see if I can find some time sometime this week, I wanted to check out the pistons anyway. The other thing with CR is how far under the deck the piston sits, and since I don't have an assembled block (and I won't for a while), I have no way to do all the calculations

As far as the Audi is concerned, I've spent upwards of $2k on repairing it after my blown headgasket, and I've still got coolant entering the cylinders and oil, even with 150psi across all six cylinders. I'm tired of fussing with it, and I just need something that will get me to work on a regular basis, and that's a breeze to fix. The LN2 Cav fits the bill, and I have more spare parts for it than I could ever need lol. Too bad though, the Geman tank is in wonderful condition, and there's no way I could use all that stereo equipment in the Cav as it would fall apart. All that work I put into porting those heads to a flawless finish will have been for nothing unfortunately.

Maybe not. It's possible that a dealership tech will get the job of fixing the coolant leak. He'll pull the intake and see those ports, then he'll order new heads for the Audi and take the nice ported set home for himself.
I use 1/4" thick plexiglass sealed to the head with grease and syringes with different graduations marked on the side. One of the tricks is getting all the air out of the chamber and using the plexi allows me to tap, tap, tap to cause small air bubbles to move to the fill opening. Also sheets of saran wrap might bulge giving a false reading. Still, give it a try. If it works you've just beaten the cost of the cyl head CC kits sold in magazines.

Ah, 1/4" plexi...... never really thought of that, although now it seems obvious lol.
notec, why not sell those heads in trade for some stockers? SOMEBODY on vortex would take you up on that

You find someone and I'll swap. They'll need to send new headstuds too (w/ the 12pt tool if they can't find 6pt studs...I had to get my second set from the dealer$$$), they'd have to make it quick though...
