doesnt look like a cat to me. if you look through a cat, there should be little to no light shining through because of the screens. plus that one isnt long enough, for sure that it will throw a code.

Ill make a sig someday

looks like someone just welded an O2 bung to a glasspack resonator... lol... thats what you get for buying from ebay... it's part of the risk one takes for getting great prices... suck it up or try and dispute it with him and then go to turbotechperformance.com and buy the $69.99 Magnaflow 94035 cat...

I'd have to agree. It definitely looks like a resonator, especially if its hollow inside.

isnt thats what inside the converters to make them what they are? thats why the new ones are so expensive and thats why the OLD ones are worth alot. is for the platinum.

As far as I know, no; if that's true then its news to me. Hi-flow cats aren't that expensive, my Magnaflow cat cost me $50.00. Either way, a cat shouldn't be hollow; a cat must have material inside to filter and 'clean' the exhaust gases. Otherwise, it might be a resonator or straight pipe with an o2 bung welded into it.

whats the big deal about having the CAT on there anyway... I live in ND, we dont care about emissions...so what happens if i cut it out

If you provided some car information I might be able to help you out better.

Without your o2 sensor in a proper location on the cat, your car's performance will suck. An OBD-II ECU won't understand how to interpret the readings and will give you bad a/f ratios, hence the bad performance. You might be able to remedy this with an o2 sim but I've heard mixed reviews, you might want to do a search for that. All in all, unless you're running big power there's no real performance gain to eliminating your cat. In my opinion, you would be better off having a hi-flow cat. No sense in giving your car incorrect readings from an inaccurate o2 sensor.

I'm sure North Dakota cares about emissions. It's not a state thing, it's a nationwide ordeal.

And Fil. I still love you.

It's there because of emission reasons. (duh)
It would be a federal crime if you remove it.
With a heafty fine (over $1K) if you are caught.

The metal in a cat is titanium. Even a high flow cat has screen and honeycomb. If you really dont want the cat, but want your car to run right, get HPTuners and have it ignore the secondary O2 sensor .

STREET ANTIX, it's coming...

The second 02 sensor is just to monitor the performance of the cat. It doesn't have a bearing on the engine control system.

^^I agree. Although I have seen numerous people have issues when the ECU doesn't recognize a sensor. One member, LD9 Fury I think it is, posted a very good response to someone who wanted to get rid of their cat. Although he didn't have engine issues, which wasn't exactly what I was trying to say, but he did have small nuissances (sp?).
