back fire problems

I got a question my car is back firing really bad it has 154,500 miles on it several bolts ons and ever time I get on it and it gets up to 3,000 rpm it sometimes stall when I'm driving and if I put the pedal all the way down it backfires really bad and shot flames out the exhaust and now it sounds really funny like it blew sometihing any ideas on what it could be? I put fuel cleaner in it and it stopped for a while then came back could it be that the timing is off or ignition problems?

Best guess for me would be the car has jumped timing a little...belt/chain is stretched some. One or both of the above, time for a possible rebuild...with that many miles.

Timing or fuel pressure is too low, I just had problems with my fuel pump and it would sputter, stall, and backfire.

thanks for the info. I've been driving it lately cuz all it does is sit. but any way it seems that now it has a major power loss and doesn't sound the same the exhaust is quieter and I hear some kind of hissing noise any ideas on that?
