Throttle cable tensil str?

Does anybody know the tensil strength of our thottle cables?

I have a DIY thread on a local car club forum, but i want to make sure the new firmer feel of the gas pedal wont over stress the throttle cable.

I broke one in the past too, but that was from damage to its outer sleeve.

what are you doing that would stress the cable?

I'm pretty confident it could withstand a good bit of force, braided fishing line of a smaller width can come to 50lb plus, and the throttle cable is made of steel.

the weakest part of the cable is the ends

but id say itll hold close to 100 lbs , depending how hard you floor board the car

but as long as there is no kinks , it should last quite a while

I would also say the S'ut is going to be close to 150 ish. A jerky force stresses the metal more than you think. Like if you jump you exert more force on the ground when you land than you weight. You have to push it past the tensile point for it to break though.

Yea, ummmm. I used to have a J-body...

That might not surpass the tensile strength of cable, but the spring may not handle the added spring rate...

Well i drive about 120 Miles each day, i have an extra spring, so i guess ill see how long it lasts.

Nope, can't think of one. So it's been a couple days, what's the verdict on the pedal feel?
