I own a 99 sunfire with an 2.2 OHV and i was wondering if anyone could tell me what would be easier to swap in a 2.2 ecotec or a 2.4 twin cam ? and if any one has ever swaped out a 3 speed auto for a 5 speed manual and if its even possible ? if anyone could offer me any help at all it would be greatly appreciated!!! or if some one thinks i should keep my engine then please show me some extensive mods that can be done without sacraficing drivability or engine life this car does have to last me through collage! thank you!

Well, if you can find a 2.4 with a manual, grab the whole engine/tranny harness and the PCM (right fender). That would be the easiest. Ecotec requires a complete PCM and BCM swap IIRC.
if you have an auto its gonna be easier and CHEAPER to simply sell it and buy a manual..dont waste your time trying to swap unless your just plain bored

Ya never know, he could work at a salvage yard or something.
ok well i found a few parts for the 2.2 nothing super big for mods b/c i heard from some buddies of mine that the 2.2 that i got if you turbo it or put injectors or any induction type system on it the timing chains go bad quickly! i don't want to be replacing timing chains every 15 K or so does anyone know how true this is or maybe some have experienced it ?
