i went to the track friday night and i ran a 17 flat does and body think thats good for a 2.2 with a header intake and stock exhaust with a muffler and what do u think will make me run faster because i just got a dual magna flow 2.50 cat back that i am putting on today
Well the dual mufflers are just for looks they don't do anything as far as performance goes. 2.5 inch sounds a little big for a 2.2 non ECO car, you sure about 2.5 inch?
Most go 2.25 with that engine.
I wish I could tell you what you need to go faster but I don't know about the 2.2 enough to give any detailed information on.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
i ran a 16 flat with a catback, intake, and crank pulley. back in 2003 i ran a 16.8ish (i think) completely stock. if i were you id get some more practice in because it seems like you should be a little faster.
also, youre definately gonna wanna buy a catback with 2.25" piping. 2.5" is a little too big for our engines unless youre running boost.
if you wanna get fast, start off by finishing your intake and your exhaust first. on the exhuast side do a high flow cat and 2.25" catback. On the intake side do a throttle body (no bigger than 59mm without boost), and port match your intake manifold to the throttle body. Also youre gonna eventually wanna get a lightened pulley set from rsm and a set of crane goldrace 1.6:1 roller rockers.
after that, any other horsepower you can unlock will be in the head, valvetrain, and camshaft... or invest in a turbo kit.
hope that helped and good luck dude
17 flat with those mods and a manual trans? Doesn't sound too fast to me.
I was happy when I heard my car ran 10s. Then I found out that was 0-60.
Can you post the time slip(s)?
your not gonna be fast with that engine. unless you want boost.

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
