I just had my exhaust redone on my Z with 2.25" piping, header, high flow cat, a 25" dynomax thrush magnum glasspack, and a 14" magnaflow street series muffler (p/n 14814). The system sounds really good when warmed up and below 4000 rpm, but when it gets over 4500-5000 rpm its a little too raspy for me. I was wondering if I were to install another resonator, around 12", right before the muffler, will that eliminate the raspiness in the higher rpms? I measured it out and I think the biggest I can fit is a 12"-14" resonator in there. Has anyone done this and will it make a difference?

I have heard of second resonators being done. The more distance in the resonator, the more toned down the sound will be

you can always get a bigger resonator.

i have a second resonator after the axle but before the muffler 16" long took away a lot of the rasp i hardly had any rasp now i can say it is more or less gone. at a cruise it almost sounds stock now. On the highway it is so good.

What type/brand resonator did you put in after the axle? I can't seem to find any that are less than 18" and I think all I can fit is about a 12". Can't switch out the one after my cat, 25" is about all I can fit.

I got an e-bay test pipe/ Resonator that is 16" it worked just fine. I got a 2.5" test pipe and it is so much better.
