i bought a used a/f gauge cause i needed to fill the other pod. I didn't get instructions with it. I got three wires red, purple, and black. what do these wires do and were is the best place to tape into.
red = power. I tapped into the ACC wire for my stereo which tapes into the big brown wire. not sure where to get power for a 99 car.
black = ground. i put a round style crimp on mine and found a screw that went into metal. done like dinner.
purple = signal. goes to the o2 sensor.... not sure what wire to tap on a 2.4L. DO NOT CUT THE O2 SENSOR WIRE. use a stripping tool and an exacto knife and wrap the purple around it.... then solder and wrap with electrical tape.
just look for the 1st 'o2' sensor on your exhaust manifold/header, should only be one wire coming off it, follow that wire until you find a black connector, and attach the purple wire after the connector, so if you do ever have to replace the o2 sensor, you wont have to resplice for the a/f gauge.
actually, there are two wires for the first o2 sensor on a 2.4L.
After the connector wich wire do i tape into

want me to take a picture of mine?
sure, doesnt mean that an 01 has 1 wire
my 00 had two wires.
all cars are the same +/- and the o2 signal wire hook em there and your fine. thats what i did...wookie on civic too
what wire does the purple one tape into the black or the white
I think there should be a purple wire coming from the O2 sensor plug. Isn't there?

It should just be a straight purple wire running all the way back to your pcm. If not then somebody has been messing with things.
