I just got my pacesetter 4-1 ceramic header, magnaflow 94035 high flow cat, a magnaflow 14814 muffler installed on my '97 Z by a local shop with 2.25" piping. When driving, I noticed that whenever I accelerate I can hear a gurgling type noise from either under the hood or under the car (I can't pinpoint the location but I think its under the hood). This noise is accompanied by an exhaust smell. It's not so loud at low throttle but very loud at mid-range/high throttle. There is no CEL but I am concerned. Is this normal???

Jack the car, let it run and find the leak. If it's leaking for a while, you may see black deposit somewhere on the exhaust. If not, I'll check if the header is tightened correctly (did you tightened it again after a few rides????) check also where the header connect to the "downpipe" it can leak from there. If both these places are ok, it's probably a weld somewhere or where the flanges are??? With the engine running it will be easier to spot it..
Hmm... don't think there's a leak in the pipes because I got everything welded. The only thing I can think of is that there is a leak coming from the header. The stock gasket was replaced with one purchased by the shop. Not sure if it was a metal one or not, but on the receipt it said it was from napa so I assume its metal. Could it just be a faulty gasket? It seems wierd that the that kind of noise (it's pretty loud, almost like a weedwacker at high RPMs) and smell would come from a faulty gasket.

Probably a gasket...
Did you use the gaskets that came with your Pacesetter Header?

Nope, I had the shop put a new one in.

Thats what I was gunna ask. You probably need to re torque the bolts, you might have blown the gasket to.
