How do I attach a K&N cone filter to the stock intake piping if i remove the air box? Anyone have pics....links to the part i need? thanks!
It is possible, that's how mine was when I got it. Though mine was rigged badly with a bunch of tape and probably didn't help that much. Personally I would go for a short ram. You can find some very reasonable ones on ebay.....let's all remember that a short ram air is just an aluminum pipe, no need to pay $125 for one! That's just me though. If you really want to do a k&n to the stock pipe first measure the inner diameter of the end of the pipe and find out if you can get one that fits that'll be the key. Good luck!
Why not just use a drop in k&n? The cone isn't going to help anything but sound.

you are on the right track choosing k&N. They are the name of the game man. i would also recommend replacing the stock intake tube. inside that tube is a maze of baffles designed to decrease engine noise, they also KILL most flow improvement your K&N provides. vibrant makes an inexpensive short ram (usually available on ebay for around $60). i own a vibrant and put on a K&N. I think most will agree it is a quality bang-for-the-buck setup. i just think if you're gonna do it, do it right man.
04eco's setup will get rid of most the restriction, but I would still get an intake pipe. Either way, thats a better setup then stock. Our stock box and filter setup is really not that great, my throttle body was pretty dirty when I installed my intake kit, so that really means the stock intake piping wasnt doing its job to well.

where did you get that rubber connector to join the circle filter to the oval pipe?????? LINK PLEASE
you don't really need that connector, i just took a K&N filter and just shoved and pulled and cussed and threw a fit until it squeezed over the oval hole
well ok, mabey a coupler would have made it a tad easier

It's EASY to do. When I did mine on my '97 2.2, I picked up a short section of 3" exhaust pipe. It's about 6 inches long, cost me like two bucks. You don't need any clamps because the filter comes with one and you can use the stock clamp on the hose side. All I did was wedge the hose around the pipe (it's tight, but it fits with a little work), clamp it down, and attach the filter. Take out the stock airbox, tie up the clutch reserve to keep it from dangling, and you're all set. It's far from pretty, but it works. Eventually I'm going to replace the stock tube with one I'm putting together right now (my welder took a crap so I need to take it in and have the welds done), but honestly, it works just as well as is. I don't think the 2.2 has all that baffling, tho.

I don't remember the part number but Autozone and places like that will have the measurements. The inlet is 3", it has a taper from 6" at the base to something like 3.5 I think at the end, and it's 9" long. That's the one I used.
