finding my way
Monday, December 26, 2005 6:31 AM
as the title states, im looking for the next direction to take the cavalier(2004)...

so far, i've done what i wanted with my suspension, so that is done

i've added an intake. now i want to move on to the next project. i want to do my exhaust next, but i dont know what i should do. my major concern is my warranty. this is why i am afraid to do a header and cat-back exhaust. my original plan was to only do a catback, as to avoid codes and anything that might jeopardize the warranty.

i know also that it is often a waste to only do a catback, when the stock exhaust manifold, and cat will be restricting.

is there anyway to avoid codes and problems, if i do a full, header back exhaust? or with all the sensor problems, is that probably unlikely if not impossible? i was also wondering if motor mounts are worth the money? i know if iwant to do a header, i should probably have these, but are the vibes worth the gains/money?

you guys are always so helpful, im sure you'll steer me in the right direction here again. thanks again to all the responses.

The dealer must prove the part that you installed caused the problem (whatever it may be) to void your warrenty otherwise you are in good shape. I have a PS header, magnaflow cat, dynomax resonator and the rks catback. No codes or problems at all here, same as most people. The only way it should throw a code is if it was installed wrong or a bad cat for example. Your fine, go for the full exhaust.

did you do the intall yourself, or did you have a shop do it for you? cuz i always reads posts on here about bad sensors from using a header, and how the wrong p/n cat will throw code. did everything pretty much bolt up with ease?

thanks for that quick response, and anyone else with any imput, it would be most greatly appreciated. thanks again.

Yep, me and a buddy installed it. Use the magnaflow cat #94035. If you get the ps 4-1 armor coated header and everything is fine with your sensors, you will not have any problems.
