I'm runnin a stock 1992 2.0 ltr and the engine is gettin up there in milage and when it comes time to put a new engine (or rebuilt) i would like to put a 2.0 ltr turbo engine into my chassis( just did @!#$ loads of body work). if anyone has done it before and or knows if you can just bolt the turbo engine in place of the 2.0 let me know.
you can probaly go to a junkyard and get a 2.0 turbo from a J-body.
but with any engine swap there will be work involed, wiring harness, computer, stuff like that.

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Also, check out
www.car-parts.com and ebay for the engine as well or even buy a donor car for the swap.

You need the engine and the transmission. Don't just get the engine because your transmission will not hold the extra power. Trust me on this. The 5-speed also has a different bell housing bolt pattern than the automatic. Other than that the engines are pretty similar. If you are going to do the full engine swap you are going to want a donor car to pick at. I'd recomend using your stock intake manifold, fuel rail and throttle body with the turbo fuel injectors and FPR. II know you'll have to do a small amount of work to get the fuel rail to work. This gives you a 4mm larger throttle body. When you hav ea turbo car with a 42mm stock throttle body.. it hurts.... I swapped out to a 56mm quad 4 throttle body but that took a lot of time and work. I haven't pesonally done a turbo to non-turbo swap.. but I have done a turbo automatic to turbo manual swap with a full aftermarket cooling, ignition and turbo system.
Good luck with it.

Technically he is.
He wants to swap a motor that happends to have a turbo on it, not put a turbo on his current motor

^^^yep... exactly what I was thinking. The question wasn't really turbo related and neither should the replies be. Straight motor swaps deffinately go in the performance forum.

turbo anything relates to boost
motor swap or not
he is non-turbo now , and wants to put in a turbo motor , which equals adding BOOST
which = boost fourm

So if he had a 2.0 turbo motor and wanted to swap it for an 3400, that should be in the boost forum cause we are talking about a turbo motor, right?

taking out a boosted motor for a n/a motor would be different
if you read the top of the performance fourm you will find this
"Performance Forum
Discussions about performance modifications to j-body automobiles which do not involve any kind of forced induction or nitrous. Topics in any way related to turbo or supercharger should go in the Boost forum, and nitrous topics in the Nitrous Oxide forum."

You are using a technicality because a motor came with forced induction. What if he had a 2.0 turbo motor and needed to swap it for another 2.0 turbo motor? I mean...it's the fact that it came with it and not an "addition".
Whatever...I just wanted to bust your balls. You know I still love you Captain Pacesetter

I see 3800 SC swap question in here all the time.. and only in here. I'm not trying to bust the balls. This one hits me close to home because when I wanted to do a quad 4 throttle body swap on my 2.0 turbo and wanted a wire pin-put for the iac, I wouldn't expect to have to post it in the boost forum where less people would know the answer.

BOOYAH!

pin out for the IAC woulda been a maintence item , since it has to do with the wiring instead of performance
the 3800 sc posts drive me nuts also
^^^^^a throttle body conversion is deffinately not maintanance. I'm honeslty unsure if that was supposed to be funny or serious... but nobody doing maintanance is going to need a pin-out diagram for the IAC because even if they needed to replace the plug, the wires are already color coded.
I have never seen anybody else go mad over the SC or turbo motor swaps. I'd say just let it go. If he was asking about mating a 2.0 turbo kit to his stock engine or a SC to another 660 that would be one thing... but he is just curious as to if the engine bolts up... nothing about the actual turbo aspect.

To clarify this, it isn't a "problem" per se.
To use a 5 speed tranny on an automatic block: You leave one bolt off the tranny bellhousing. you won't miss it. Just make sure the others are torqued down good.
To use an automatic tranny on a 5 speed block : you have to use a die grinder and grind off the corner of the block whre the "Extra" 5 speed bolt is. This again, is easy and works just fine.
