i dont care about the look but performance wise do they do the same thing as the ceramic coated ones
ceramic coated headers will hold in the heat better allowing the exhaust to move faster and stay out of the engine bay
and they hold up better to the elements
aright but will u get the same performance improvments
like he said the ceramic will allow the exhaust to exit faster but the difference wont be noticable

The one, the only, ME.
ceramic coated = less heat under the hood
The ceramic will also last alot longer.
the ceramic coat is the way to go man. less prone to cracking, more durable, longer lasting... yup

I have the black painted one. I have no problems with it but i live somewhere that has no snow not near the sea so there is not to many elements to cause me any problems. It does not look the best once the black paint in off it but i am not looking for looks. There may be heat but once your car is moving air passes throught the engine to cool it down some. If i had to do it again i would do ceramic but money wise i could not afford ceramic and i got mine of ebay.

Yes air passes through it, but not that much, and not enough to match the effectiveness of ceramic coat.

No the HP gains would not be the same. The ceramic allows the exhaust gases to move faster out the exhaust, quicker it is gone, the quicker more can come out. Saying that the HP difference would be small.
FU Tuning
black coated < black coated in header wrap
nooooo header wrap bad. that doesnt let the heat escape at all from the header, this can cause the welds on the header to crack and say bye bye header
The gains versus ceramic coated are minimal. If you don't live by the a beach or where the roads are salted, I would go with the painted one if your on a budget. But ultimately in the long run, ceramic coated>Black painted.

I have no experience with it, but I've heard about using different types of wrap. The cheaper ones are generally the ones that allow no transfer, and the more expensive ones still transfer some heat.
what a lot of people dont know is the black paint on the steel header is for protection during shipping. and when the customer gets it, they are supposed to get the black paint off and coated it with something.
and header wrap is bad. moisture can get under the wrap, rust out the header causing holes

HP gains.... really means... freeing up more hp. Gains generally come from boost.

get the ceramic coated..period...its only a differnce of 70 bucks..and if it rusts out..its useless...phil
I have had the blacked painted one for about two years now. It is not to pretty anymore, but still gets the job done. Just get the ceramic coated one and call it a day.
