Exhaust question asap
Tuesday, November 22, 2005 11:09 AM
I have received my headers, muffler and resonator in the mail so far. I have cancelled my cat shipment due to a certain company charging ridiculous fees and surprising me with fun 3 digit charges.

Anyway!

I like and trust Jegs.com, so I'd like to buy from them.

HERE

On this page, is this item:

642-94315 2.25'' In/Out Catalytic Converter

My question:

Will this fit my 2004 Sunfire? Yes, I will have 2.25" piping. I am worried about the fact that it is in the 'Oval w/Air Tube' category. AIR TUBE = AIR BOSS = WHAT I NEED?

Thanks for any answers, I'd like to order this part today, but only if someone here is 100% sure that this exact cat will fit/work with my car and any sensor hookups it has.

-Matt!

magnaflow is good stuff. some people are using the 94315 (the one you are looking at) but more people are using the 94035. i think the only difference between the two is that one is longer than the other. i have the 94035 and i don't think it takes up any more room than my stock cat did. i would say just get the 94035 and check the prices at justmagnaflow.com. thats where i got mine and it was $67 with free shipping.

I live in Canada, it won't be free shipping. My concern is that they 1) won't provide tracking information, and 2) there will be surprise pick-up charges when it gets in Canada, like freaking Gravana has. Jegs.com has instant tracking and no surprise charges, all paid right away.

My main concern is; will the air thingy be an issue on the 90315?

I don't know if it will fit with the air tube. You don't need it anyway, get the 94035.

Yeah, I'll stick with 94035 then. It's just hard to find a place that ships to freaking Canada, though. That 'justmagnaflow' place doesn't even let you select any country other than the USA in their order form.. yay

What does the rest of the exhaust consists of? Meaning names? You will want a resonator to, otherwise it will be really loud, raspy and annoying.

In the past few weeks, I have received the following parts in the mail:

Pacesetter ceramic coated header
Magnaflow 2.25" performance exhaust (center/center, oval design)
Thrush glasspack resonator

Thus, this cat is my final part before I take it to the shop for installation.

You are paying to have all that install? Or just welded up? I would do it myself. How big is the thrush, mine is the 25" one. Its going to sound good, exact same setup I have. Are you a manual or auto?

Manual or automatic.. might as well ask me if my car is painted pink!

Haha.. yes it's an automatic

And yes I believe it's the same length as your Thrush. I did my research, and got what I considered to be the best for my university student budget.

And I am paying for install, weld, pipes, all of it. I have never touched a welding thing in my life, nor have I any clue where I could 'borrow' the tools to do so. I don't have a car jack, or anything remotely close to be able to do this. I'm a software engineer, not a car guy, and I have no choice but to pay someone to do it for me.. it's just out of the question for me to do it myself..

Waste of money, I'm sure, I know what you guys are going to say..
