Lemme give the full story... I installed my AEM cold-air kit the other day, but noticed that the pre-cut IAT sensor hole was a bit wide... when I inserted my stock grommet into the hole, the sensor was loose. I found a rubber o-ring and stuck it in the groove on the stock grommet and shoved the sensor into the hole... it's a bit loose but way tighter than it was. I then went for a drive and... no CEC. About 40 mins into the drive, my CEC comes on. So I pop the hood, check all connections, all good. Only thing that seemed odd was that one of the small wires going to the IAT sensor was exposed in a very tiny spot. The rubber insulation on the wire must have rubbed off on something, but only on a very small spot.
So, I take the car up to AutoZone. They scan it and come back with "P0113: Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input" First off, what does this code actually mean? Is the sensor bad? Is the wire shorting out? What's the deal? Secondly, has anyone else had this problem and how can it be fixed? Thanks in advance.

Normally, if you re-use the rubber that hold the IAT on the stock intake it fit perfectly
As for the high input, it can be a too high resistance, but not sure. If the wire is exposed to water and stuff it can create resistance.
I just realized I used "CEC" this whole post... which is a term used at work all the time... I meant CEL "check engine light"... anyways, I know it
should be tight, Ghost, but it's not. I bought it used so maybe the guy before me cut it bigger or something. Do you think that it could be throwing a "High Input" code because that wire is a bit exposed? Would wrapping it in some electrical tape do the trick?
there should have been a rubber groument supplied with the intake from AEM
you have to use there groument
also im willing to bet if you lightly pull on 1 of the 2 wires going into the plug 1 of them will pull off pretty easy , which means the wire broke
it is a very common issue when messing with the iat , you will need to go to the dealer and get the service end connector for the iat , it will be a new plug with a heavier gauge wire , cut and splice it in using the supplied heat shrink butt conectors ,
shrink them from the center out to each open end , so that the glue just starts to come out
so this is common, huh... ok... well, how much is it for the dealer to do this? is it covered under warranty? I am not much on electrical stuff so I'm not sure I'm comfortable with it...
Mine was a bit loose too, still is, and no cel. Ive had the intake on for a little over a year. and i dont think that AEM supplied an extra groument, at least not with mine.

Yeah, the aem ecotec intakes don't come with the grommets.
Just take off the intake, put it back to stock. Then when the code is thrown, go to the dealer to have it fixed.
Back to stock!? lol... I just put the thing on... I think I might just get the replacement sensor connector and see if my buddy (a mechanic) can splice it in for me. He'll just print the service manual pages from his work. Question... anyone have a part # or price for the connector? If I replace the connector, should I also replace the sensor?

That's what I would do. Then make sure you get the right gromet
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
just the connector , its only 2 wires
I get the same thing sometimes with my K&N intake. I also think my IAT sensor is a bit loose. At first I thought it was something else, something much worse...but after fiddling around with it the light went off. Actually the other day it came on, and then I was going to fix it but after a couple days it went away again.
I'm guessing that if the CEL comes on, the IAT isn't connected or working properly. Either way, how bad is this for the car? I drove around a couple days with the light on and then it just went away.
