Magnaflow XL Powerpack , Kill Performance?
Sunday, November 20, 2005 4:28 PM
As of now I have a thrush cherry bomb thing as a resonator for my car, I was wondering if Magnaflow XL Powerpacks kill performance? The thrush just recirculates the gases to quiet it down and thus kills power. I have a built motor going in with the Gm SC so want everything to flow nicely.

Yea I think so, I got it off ebay for 20$, and welded it in, quieted it down a little bit but I think killed performance.

Hey CHris, I think something like this may work better for you. IMO, Cherry Bombs are crap.

the muffler shop i went to were able to cut off the end extention pieces so i could get a longer resonator in there.

so what did you use on the ends of the resonator to weld to the rest of your exhaust piping?

You don't need the ends to connect it to the existing pipe. It helps the exhaust shop i went is really good and does excellent work. If have a good shop they can get it done. I had to go out of town to this exhaust shop near a friend to get the work done.

Yea, th ars are on there so that some could just mate it in, and prevent the need to weld. When i put mine in I cut the ears off and got the full 30 inches in, just had to move the cat up a lttle. It isnt too hardm they are just pipes, lol.

i know it is no big deal if a shop says they can't do then you don't need to go back there to do any work. My cherry bomb glass pack is great i didn't feel a power loss. Just that the noise was reduced which can give the illusion that you are not going as fast.

well with a straight through design, you shouldn't have any power loss at all

Is anyone else using the thrush cherry bomb, I know lots of people that say huge power loss, and I definantly saw it. 1/4 mile time went up a lot.
