Im doing the same exact swap but I have a 97 2.2.. Youll need the gauge cluster from a Z as well if you dont have a tack in your 2.2 cluster.

Youll need the physical top engine mount from a Z. Your 2.2 top mount wont bolt up to the Z engine.

If you dont already have these following parts on your 2.4 engine now youll need the following

a/c compressor
starter(Im going with a 2000+ starter)
alternator

Hope that helps somewhat. Lemme know if you need anything else.

so the harness is an easy swap then?

Your good to go then. Yeah uninstall your 2.2 harness and install the 2.4 one.. Connect what you can to the engine and tranny before you drop it in then connect the rest once the engine is in.. Thats how im going about mine.

coolant reservoir is different from 2.2 to 2.4, the part # is 22605500, if you want a brand new upper mount, that part # is 22174933. If you can't get the 2.2 throttle cable to work the 2.4 one is 22618841.

Never been a fan of attaching wiring before you drop a motor with trans in, always a chance of damaging the wires. Not like its hard to attach the wiring after the motor is already in. The swap is easy, enjoy the 2.4

^^^ Are you sure the coolant reservoir is different between the two motors? Thats weird, I never heard anybody switching those with the swap.

Yes the two are different. 2.2 had one prong for return, 2.3/2.4 have two prong. If they were the same I would not have purchased one when I did a 2.2 to 2.4 swap a few years back (other then it never hurts having a nice new one for looks lol)
