4-2-1 headers
Thursday, November 10, 2005 7:28 PM
hey guys, i know that 4-2-1 headers give you the low end power which is what i want. but since the weapon-r headers are on such a back order, what do you all suggest as alternates? i want some good low-end with some mid-range also if that helps any. i've been shoppin but the manufacturers dont really tell you much except what the pipe is made out of, the org is where you get your reliability from. thanks in advance for the help guys, and maybe some girls if you're on the org.

Brandon - We have the Ceramic ecotec header in stock. It is a 4-1 but being the ecotec you will not loose much low end torque. It has a great top end also. Email me if you have any questions. Aaron@turbotechracing.com

from personal experience after doing a 4-2-1 install, if you want a quick and easy install get the 4-1.

Go with the Pacesetter Ceramic coated, the difference in using a 4-2-1 vs. the 4-1 is so minimal at best. The major problem with the Weapon R is the design itself, the longer upward stretching pipes cause the whole engine bay to heat up greatly and since its not coated theres even more heat, it just creates a ton of heat, the pacesetter being coated and more lower in the engine doesnt cause near as much heat and its one piece so theres less chances of leaks, any percieved gain with the 4-2-1 in mid range is lost on upper end, you will make more power with the pacesetter

Oh yea the install is a bitch, my motor had to be yanked foward with a supra to fit it in

I went through this many times- There is a 50% each way between weapon r and pacesetter. I'm still confused myself but I think im leaning towards pacesetter.

I dont really see any benefit to the Weapon R over the Pacesetter, Theres no significant mid range gain anyway and J's weak point is up top not lower end anyway

Personal preference, i love my pacesetter, it gave me decent low end gain, i have had it for 4 or 5 months now, and still no complaints

how about where the O2 sensor goes in the one primary instead of at the bottom like say the OBX setup is? Doesnt that make a difference in monitoring exhaust gases? I mean id be interested in a 4-1 thats ceramic coated, and had the bung at the bottom, anyone make that?

For your 98 2.4 w/ EGR
Pacesetter.
p/n 72C1277

Don't go for those two that are on ebay.
They are RK design.

so the bung is really down at the bottom on the Pacesetter instead of on one of the primary's? Definitly need to check that out then, thanks!

you will probably need to extend the 02 sensor wire

Yes... it bolts up to the head. It doesn't include a B pipe, so it doesn't bolt to the rest of your exhaust. You'd have to drive it open header to an exhaust shop to have a custom header back exhaust made.

My 02 Sensor is a 1 wire, that one's for 4 which would be my lower after the cat.
