$250 is low for a PnP, valve job, and valve seating. most likely your valve seals are bad. did your car smoke at cold startup?

Wow! thats f'n cheap!. It would cost more than that just to have the PnP done here, thats why I am getting a junk head and doing it myself. Hell, they want 250 to bore, hone, and install my cam!

If you're going to work your head, I say that you do the works to it. A mild P & P won't do much unless you start replacing some important components. Go to www.jbodyperformance.com and purchase all the parts you need (retainers, springs, rockers etc).

Also, his P & P is cheap because he only has 8 valves...not 16 valves like a DOHC motor.

Also, make sure he can flow bench test your head.

Yupp same here! My PnP opened it up a TON more but I'm eventually buying a fully built head from some connections I have Will get my present head acid cleaned and blasted so it looks brand new then sell it in the classififeds for cheap! This time I'm getting the new head flow benched and making sure it matches the cam!

BTW, $250 is still cheap for a OHV P&P.

The guy doing you heads will probably just do a basic bowl blend and clean up of the runners. Not as good as a full P&P, but it should net some improvement.
