ERGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so frustrated, I installed the DIS 2 according to the instructions perfect but I got that damn code.
So I got the MSD Cam Sync Generator and installed it according to the instructions and my car ran like crap.
For the people that have installed the Cam Sync Generator, please let me know which wires went to what. Thanks
MSD makes great products but they don't even know how to install them on most models.
Beyond that......
I wouldn't worry about it.
The Cam Sync is only needed if you are trying to set timing on a cyiinder by cylinder basis. THe code means nothing to the rest of the units operations.

The "cam sync" error code is nothing to worry about. It is just there to let you know that the cam sensor crap isnt hooked up. You do not need it.

Yeah i had an MSD DIS-2 hooked up on my 2200 and it worked fine without the cam syn generator thing.
I think you only need that if you have the programmable one.

That pretty much says it all.

You do not need it with the programmable one. I am thinking that GMfreak has the programmable one.

sorry i was out of posts till i renewed the premo
a well tuned engine should never have a code, the trick is that you have to strip off about 3 inches of the insoluation on the cam sync wire wrap it around the plug boot make sure that it does not touch any metal,
also cut the brown and white wire going into the ICM this is your CSI pickup you will want to make sure that the ICM side isnt connected anymore and the output from the msd cam sync is hooked into the PCM side of the wire, the whole point of the 8914 part is to appease the PCM of when the 4th plug wire is firing so the PCM knows camshaft position since the eco does not use a sensor for this like the 2.2ohv and the 2.4 LD9, so your sending the signal only to the PCM not to the ICM also, doing this will cause the car to run lousy, this was observed on QBE's car the first time it was installed, doing the above resolved the issue, only other wires on the cam sync there is a white wire which you hook inline with your msd harness and the red wire which is for power which also hooks in the msd harness, the black wire just gets grounded to an unpainted piece of metal

I guess the only real lesson to be learned at this point is INFO.
Basically, every answer provided so far is correct based on the total lack of information provided at the start.
What Engine?
DIS2 or DIS2Programmable?
What Cam Sync Generator (part #)?
Setting an MSD or PCM Code?

i got a PM from him , hes using the 8914 part
in previous posts he mentions having an ecotec
DIS2 or Programmable makes no difference at all
Also in other posts that "damn code" he mentions as the P0340 which is camshaft position sensor malf, a result of not having the 8914 part installed correctly
